Sounds like a good enough reason to me and I was having a hard time deciding. Looking forward to seeing what you do!

Thanks mad orc, but it looks like McScottish will be doing something in that direction so I'll be going for the Sengoku period. Who knows though, I may end up doing FOTS eventually - I'm going to play and record the game in case future waveman wants to write about it
Re: Writers' Study Chat and Feedback - Ask all your questions here!
Would anyone be interested in helping me out with unit names for a mod?
I've got about 250-ish units ranging from Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Antiquity and the Medieval Ages. All of them already have unit names, but I want to make them a bit cooler.
I figured since you're all writers someone might be interested.
Re: Writers' Study Chat and Feedback - Ask all your questions here!
Could you say a bit more about how you think it might work? I mean, are you looking for GoT fans to name the GoT units, and LotR fans to name the LotR units, and people with historical knowledge for the historical units, or are you just looking for random enthusiastic people to look at everything for you? It might help people to know whether they might be the right people for the job. :)
Re: Writers' Study Chat and Feedback - Ask all your questions here!
The Hammer brigade always has a nice ring too it :P
Re: Writers' Study Chat and Feedback - Ask all your questions here!
Just had to reorganise all the info, but here you go.
Basically the mod will be similar to THERA: Legacy of the Great Torment and I was hoping for names kinda similar to that, with a bit more pazazz than what I've currently got. Eg Vikings are called Men of Valhalla, the Holy Roman Empire is called the Faustian Reich, Rome is called the Romuli Empire.
I've got all the information stored on Trello (you don't need an account) and I was just hoping for creative/cooler faction names, and if you've got time new unit names as well. At the moment I'm just using the names that the mods I've taken the units from (with permission) used.
There are two different versions of Gondor and the Confederation of Non-Humans because one of the mods used isn't released yet, so only people with early access to that mod will use the version of my mod with those units.
Re: Writers' Study Chat and Feedback - Ask all your questions here!
Thank you!
Would you like people to PM you with any suggestions, and then you can pick the ones you like best?
(I find myself with a big pile of stuff on my 'must be done urgently' list, but I'll certainly have a look and let you know if inspiration strikes. :))
Re: Writers' Study Chat and Feedback - Ask all your questions here!
We could use a Google Drive spreadsheet. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing
Just write whatever random faction/unit names there.

Re: Writers' Study Chat and Feedback - Ask all your questions here!
This is the result of posting a question and being steered here. I just poked in and actually have made my first thread subscription to the Mad Orc's story. I have much more to read of that 'explained' history and of course much more to read period. I am impressed with all of your efforts here and will return soon for more.

Thanks man.Which story do you liked in particular.
Re: Writers' Study Chat and Feedback - Ask all your questions here!
Now that Warhammer II has been released, I'm wondering what the first Warhammer II AAR will be like and what kind of opportunities for AARs which the new game will offer. Would anyone who has Warhammer (I or II or both) like to comment? (People who have Warhammer II are welcome to post your Warhammer II AARs in the Writers' Study sub-forum for Warhammer AARs).
I know that there are fans of the historical games who don't like the fantasy ones. The reason that I don't have Warhammer is not dislike of fantasy games, it's simply because I don't have a computer which meets the minimum system requirements.

In all seriousness though, I shall likely have one up at some point; I'm pretty much waiting for Mortal Empires (when I can play as Greenskins) before I start one...but I suppose I could always begin a shorter one for the time being. Now...Elves...or not Elves...hhhmmm...
Re: Writers' Study Chat and Feedback - Ask all your questions here!
I seem to have the most ideas for good writing when i dont have the time to write in real life.On sunday i sat by my pc for 3 hours and wrote only a few lines while i spent the rest of my time on Thema Devia,Vestigia and playing Gta VCS mod for GTA VC
Re: Writers' Study Chat and Feedback - Ask all your questions here!
I can see people using the Vortex as a framework to tell a variety of stories. I imagine we'll get a few desperate last stands out it at least. :)
All the Best,
Welsh Dragon.
Re: Writers' Study Chat and Feedback - Ask all your questions here!
I had to Google the Vortex... :paperbag: It does sound as if it could be an interesting element in a story. :)
mad orc, as long as you have notes of all those good ideas, you can always use them later!
And I'll look forward to your response to Alwyn's 'challenge', McScottish, whether it turns out to be Elven or not. :D

Feels like I've been away for ages... how are things with the Study?

I am sorry, we are not in a position to reveal the identity of De Bolognese. We cannot endanger our operatives. :surprise:
It's great to see existing AARs being revived as well as new stories being begun. I recognise mad orc's problem of having good ideas for stories when we don't have time to write (and agree with Caillagh's advice).
I look forward to seeing the first Warhammer II AAR. If the author is McScottish, then I know I'll enjoy it (I'd enjoy your take on Elves. After Tolkien's heroic elves and the anti-heroic Thalmor of Skyrim, I imagine it could be interesting to write about Elves who aren't necessarily good or evil. The High Elves of Warhammer II, with their focus on politics, sound like a good prospect). I agree with Welsh Dragon about the Vortex, that does seem like an intriguing source of stories.
