China Gouges Out The Five Eyes: Australia Crippled By Chinese Trade War
This is an ongoing political event but the long and short of it is that after years of Australia attacking China either via banning Huawei, ransacking and imprisoning Chinese journalists or joining Trump's trade and cold war, the Chinese really only started to attack Australia's trade when the Australian Prime Minister made an official statement to persecute a Chinese artist for speaking up against Australian SAS atrocities in Afghanistan: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EoKH7NaUwAMC-Fi.jpg
Just today, australian timber was targeted, just one of a long list of australian products that are now excluded from the lucrative Chinese market: barley, cotton, beef, lobsters, coal etc, seems like every week there's a new australian product that gets targeted by China for exclusion.
Quote:
China-dependent Australia unwise to risk trade war with Beijing, says ex-Canberra diplomat
But in the meantime, other nations like Russia, Indonesia and Mongolia, not to mention the US and Canada and the EU are more than happy to sup on what was formerly Australia's market share in the rich Chinese domestic market: https://twitter.com/CE_ChinaEconomy/...591031297?s=20
But this isn't merely to teach Australia a lesson, a lot of this is to fulfil the Phase I trade deal with the US:
Quote:
ChinaÂ’s US barley, blueberry move focused on trade war deal, unrelated to coronavirus backlash against Australia
But tbh, what China wants out of Australia isn't really all that out of the ordinary, basically, don't be america's lackey and actually have an independent foreign policy: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EnF_zkyV...jpg&name=small

A news editorial without any figures or facts is not in fact a fact. It would fail a 300 level Econometrics course at a second rate university. It does have enough buzz terms for power point design class I suppose.

mmmhmmm, and your evidence to back up your argument is....where?
Australia desperately needs trade with China in order to keep its balance of payments; without the billions of dollars that trade brings (coal for eg was a $13.7bln trade in favour of Australian miners) there won't be any $$$ for social programs and/or military purchases.
Secondly, the rest of Asia looks on with a sense of schadenfreude, at seeing this white anglo nation being put in its place. White anglos will be brought to heel sooner or later.

Ideally the goal isn't to Pwn the Anglo, but to build socialism in Australia. On that front China is failing.

Re: China Gouges Out The Five Eyes: Australia Crippled By Chinese Trade War
Australia runs a fairly large trade surplus with China, even in spite of the various actions of the past year. There are seasonal variations in this surplus, and Covid also plays a part. Lately this has been on the back of iron exports which form the largest single trade item between the two countries.
Iron hasn't yet made it to the tariff list simply because with the competing Brazilian industry largely screwed at the moment, and the only other competing source in Africa not yet in production in a major way, there is no alternative. So while Australia has lost a lot of money over the last year in sectors like coal, wine and barley, the increase in iron value has made sure that overall the trade imbalance hasn't gone far outside of seasonal norms. It has allowed the Australian government to hold the line as it were.
Certainly the affects of Chinese actions against specific sectors of the Australian economy are going to hurt. But this highlights the need for Australia to diversify away from dependence on exports to China and iron so far is providing a bridge to any economic restructuring that will obviously need to occur over the next 10 years.

Australia might be small in population, but they're the global superpower when it comes to making money by destroying the environment.

Life is funny that way sometimes. All the US power and might in the world probably couldn’t produce the rolling blackouts and lack of fuel for heat that Beijing’s brilliant central planners have managed to self-inflict while trying to squeeze their tiny neighbor to the south. It’s like something out of an Ayn Rand novel.

All the US power and might in the world couldn't protect Americans from their own rolling blackouts and freezing texas storm; to date, one child has died from this debacle whilst no children have died in China from rolling blackouts. Fail State indeed.
In line with Chinese pressure on Australia, the lifeline of Chinese students giving money to Australian universities and the attached industries which rely on Chinese tourists/students eg pharmaceuticals, vitamins, food etc is being closed off.
Earlier Canada's Trudeau had abstained from a similar vote. The are learning to bend to the will of China.

Australia media whined to the NZ PM Jacinda Arden over why they aren't sharing in the suffering the same way white Australians are suffering.
Economists estimate Australia has about 5 or so years before China completely cuts off Australia iron ore and given the pandemic economy we're going through right now, Australia will break and kowtow to China sooner or later.
No amount of white supremacy will save Australia's economy.

Rebellion in the ranks of the anglos as WA State Premier calmly reminds the Prime Minister that Australia depends on China. Can't buy overpriced and underperforming Pentagon weapons if there's no money to be made from China.

Well when we mine the last lump of coal the joint will probably sink, so you may be onto something there.
Unless you mean One Piece the manga series? Because I read somewhere they have kangaroos so busted, buddy.

It makes sense for Australia to be on good terms with the local Asian Hegemon; white supremacy will not be to Australia's own benefit.
Scummo has got to go. Funny how all of that trade money that Australia lost went straight to EU and America, despite them cajoling us into suicide bombing our own economic welfare.

China is actually the greatest civilisation on the planet, the saviour of the earth and will lead us onto becoming an interstellar species.

that day cannot come soon enough; american hegemony will bring about a new dark age whilst the multipolar world that China's ascension brings will lead humanity into building off world colonies. Just today, the new Chinese crew docked with the new Chinese space station.
@topic
In fact, Australia itself knows that they need China, yet hate the fact that they are forced to kowtow to the new ascending China whereas before they could just get by on being the weasel of anglo america:
Quote:
Australians ‘not willing to give up’ on China despite growing mistrust, survey finds
Pathetic really, you'd think anglos like the australians would have more pride to put their money where their mouth is yet this consistent begging for a meeting with the Chinese trade minister is apt for the australian gov.

Err well nice to see the booster did not go tumbling off in a some erratic decent. What exactly will this space station do again? Mind you I think the US backed Space station was a waste of money so don't think I am sneering. Its just China seems to just be copying for no particular reason other national dick waving.
For the massive cost of putting people into space to basically do nothing - I can thing of a lot more useful projects. Cleaning up orbital space junk. A prototype orbiting solar power satellite that would beam power to earth (although it would have potential weapons grade capacity so probably makes that a no go). How many nifty orbiting observatories could have been lofted for the cost of of manned space station?
As edit and nod to to the USSR. you are gloating over something the USSR did what 35 year ago?

I still waiting for what micro gravity research is going to do. Did it help with the vaccines for COVID or Ebola. Any recent agricultural research doubling yields or drought tolerance or pest resistance. Produce better steel? Come on these are vanity projects so far.
