Sorry for naive and annoying questions, but I have been using XP for long, long time, and I have installed Win 7 only 3 days ago after my PC huge upgrade, and I dont know it so good.
1. What means "you should still do the permission steps" and how to do it?
2. May I do it with my mods installed or should I unninstall it?
Thanks for answers

Re: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems
Follow the instructions in the OP.
Re: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems
As irishron said: simply go through the whole tutorial without worrying what to do and what not. It's a one time affair and then a lot of pit falls are already avoided with regards to installing other mods or upgrading them.
Re: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems
Hello this is for everyone who is using WINDOWS 7 HOME and cant fix the Virtual Store function
As you may have discovered already that you cant physically search up local security polices; have no fear I have the answer!
I was browsing the web and found this.
Search Regedit on your start search and follow the rest, you'll get it just keep trying.
Now that I have gotten rid of Virtual store, how do I delete the backup files it created?
Remember this is for people with WINDOWS 7 HOME
This post was exactly what I needed. Thanks for that. You saved me. In case anyone else who is searching for this is using Windows 7 Home (as I was), there is no Local Policies found. Here's what you do:
- Regedit.exe
- Go to HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Policies
- Right-click on Policies and add a DWORD:
- Name is EnableVirtualization
- Value is 0 (Note: Zero means 'disable')
After a restart, it'll ignore the Virtual Store as you said.
Re: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems
Interesting find, up to the user to disable it - in line with the decision to disable the UAC.
To find the VirtualStore 'backups' go through the tutorial where it describes how to find the VirtulStore:
Quote:
You might want to consider going into C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files, and deleting the Med2 folder, so there's no confusion for the game, and also to save space.
Underneath are the instructions on how to make it visible.
Re: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems
Hey Gigantus I followed the tutorial and did the secruity "properties" changes but I cant access the actual Virtual store through AppData. I believe this is because I use Windows 7 Home edition not preiumun or what have you. I think to access these files I have to go through Regedit exe files. I'll go looking and let you guys know if I find it.
Re: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems
Hello everyone I finally found the Virtual Store folder for all people using WINDOWS 7 HOME EDITION
To access open Regedit through using the Start Search option. Then follow these steps into these folders.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore. After which go into Machine/Software, after opening that folder you'll be able to locate the Sega folders the store saved over. simply right click and delete!
Re: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems
I have Win7 Premium and the Virtual Store is only a hidden folder there, check the last section in the OP on how to make it accessible: How to Unhide hidden folders on Windows
Re: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems
this is going to sound dumb as hell. but, for the first step, under local disc. is that medival 2 Total war? Or medival 2 total war kingdoms? cause mine just says OS
Re: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems
You can do from the C: drive icon.
Re: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems
Um guys, I can't see the solution for some reason. Like I'm reading the OP, and down at number 3 it says "Here is how do to it:" followed by a big blank space and then a few lines later "This fixes your Med2 problem, without having to in any way disable or remove..." Any help?
Re: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems

Re: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems
Hi, I am at the permissions for Medieval 2 at the Users (admin-PC\Users) and the options you need me to tick ( full control and modify ) are already checked, like all the other option in a grey color and I can't change change them. What should I do ?
Re: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems
If for your login it says Full Control, you should be good.
