Re: Rome 1 and Windows 10
When you say 'stretch' - have you used the settings in the CFG file (opens with Notepad)? Underneath the required entries in the [video] section:
[video]
windowed = 1 # windowed mode
borderless_window = 1 # no borders around window
battle_resolution = 1920 1080 # set this to your actual desktop resolution
campaign_resolution = 1920 1080 # set this to your actual desktop resolution
Re: Rome 1 and Windows 10
Fixed bug with the new update of Windows 1511, now if you can turn on antialiasing :)

that's great news! thank you Luis I will try this on my own with a fresh installation (steam). I assume you was talking about Rome 1 Gold for Steam too, is that correct?

Gigantus, thanks for trolling me, I tried to shoo that fly off my screen :P
Re: Rome 1 and Windows 10
Hi guys,
I have remarkable news!
There is a very easy solution to Rome 1 and Windows 10 if you cannot start it up due to a blank screen mostly when you install it via Steam for the very first time on Windows 10 you should run into this error. A friend of mine Nikolaj posted the ultimate and noob proof solution.
I can also confirm that Windows 10 major patch 10586 fixes the antialiasing for Rome 1.
Please read the comment what to do:

Re: Rome 1 and Windows 10
Oh heck, I missed this thread before I posted mine, so sorry! I am NOT installing via the never sufficiently d@mnned STEAM, I am going off disks. Anyway to get it up and running on a non STEAM instal?
Re: Rome 1 and Windows 10
Well h*ll, that sucks, so basically unless I run STEAM, I am forked! That blows big time, since you cannot undo that KB3086255 on Windows 10 at all.

Re: Rome 1 and Windows 10
I'm not sure what you have against Steam.. And seeing how you write about it, I don't really want to know.. :p
Anyways you could always try this: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...-windows10-FIX
Hope it helps =]
Re: Rome 1 and Windows 10
I have made a fresh installation of Rome 1 1.0 with my old cd. I do have only 4 folders. preferences.text does not exist. What the helll can I do?
Re: Rome 1 and Windows 10
Please consult steam guide for Rome 1 and Windows 10. It's described there

i do not speak of a Steam version of Rome. There works everything fine.
But I need for a nonfoldered mod a fresh Rome 1, I can only get this by installing the normal original cd version of Rome.
My Version ist 2,29 gbit big in total, is that normal?
I have only 4 folders in my RTW folder, is that normal, as well?
Version 1.0 so far.
Re: Rome 1 and Windows 10
Rome 1 without steam won't work without a crack due to removal of secure disk copy protection.
You can use the same files from the steam version except the exe files

Ok thank you.
I made it this way. Everything works now and I can play my mod Kriege der Diadochen (Wars of Dioadochi)

Re: Rome 1 and Windows 10
Hi.. sorry to hijack the thread. But i have just purchased the "white label" copy of ROME 1, on disk. I've followed all the instructions TO THE LETTER, set the permissions correctly (used and created the preferences folder (it wasn't there as expected)), confirmed that my screen resolution 1920x1080 is correct in the preferences.txt file.. but still no ROME.. infact its made no changes to the boot up AT ALL. When opened in administrator mode, the computer prompts me, then does nothing.
Any suggestions??
Thanks in advance.
Re: Rome 1 and Windows 10
Uh, maybe i'm the only one here who owns both Rome Total War Gold Steam Edition and the older Gold without steam ( purchased about 12 years ago ). The Steam edition works just fine but there is no way to start the old edition Rome, no matter what because i tried everything.

I use the Anthology disc version and went back to Win 7 and have no problems, even Win 7 has to be "fixed" but that is easy, Win 10 is more of a problem with discs but you can try this link it may help http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...tice-please%29 Should you succeed I suggest you copy and paste it into a "new folder" in your c:/ drive if you want to install a mod (rename it to what you want) and keep that original install free & fresh, just rinse and repeat for any more mods. I have 14 mods on my pc using this method. Check out my youtube channel to see it working perfectly.
Re: Rome 1 and Windows 10
Just chiming in here: I vaguely remembered that I had to get hold of a chat_filter.san file that I had to add to a mod's data folder (own mod folder) - but it was not required for the main game's data folder, any connection to that?
