Ah, I dont really follow boxing but I know a few names. Why did he wear the Canadian maple?
because he's actually a canadian, he was raised there and fought there as an amateur, including representing Canada in the olympics.
Thats why British boxing fans tend to boo Lennox when he wears the union jack, they consider him a faker and not a true brit.
to my american ears he sure sounds british though, at least...
Ahhhh I see, he was born in the UK though.
yeah but not to British parents though...earlier I said that he was born IN jamaica, thats not true, he was born in the UK to jamaican parents.
I dont know what criteria needs to be met to consider someone a "true brit", I just know that a sizeable percentage of Brits tend to boo lennox when he reps Britain.
I just think he's multinational, in this modern globalized world there are bound to be a number of people like Lewis, who retain citizenship in many countries and consider them all home.
Aye, sort of like Tiger Woods with his multi - racial roots.
Yeah I guess, it gets tough for simple folk when they find that they can no longer identify with their hero's based on broad and impersonal similarities such as race or nationality. It turns from something possesive like "Tiger woods is a great black golfer, a great black man, just like ME!" to just " Tiger Woods is a great golfer, a great man, just like...uh...me?"
Something not quite the same about that, people need to feel special by identifying with what they are so that they know what they are not.
Didn't Tiger Woods manage to hit someone in the head with a golf ball whilst playing the open?
I think I read it in News of the World (not through choice).
I wouldnt know, mistress of the macabre, I dont follow golf. Its an elitist game made specifically for the purpose of gathering together a lot of rich old white men so that they can sneer at and belittle the proletariat that made them so rich in the first place.
Ever seen the movie Falling Down with michael douglas?
No, but I have seen Happy Gilmore. Adam Sandler = god.
Hello everyone, longtime lurker, first time poster.

Hey Boeing, think I'll give the cheesesteal a miss, though.:laughter:
Only this famed image can express my anguish.
