What is "Battle Companies"? Never heard of it....
It's like a variation for even smaller scale fights than skirmishes, but adds a role-play element to it. You start with between 5 and 8 models, and can use "experience" to recruit and promote your models up to 15 or so.
KippyK, have you tried the High Elves?? Pretty nice, and relatively easy to paint, with stunning heroes...I may be biased, 'cos they are my army of choice in LoTR, but, they are killers and have better armour values than the Galadhrim, which I think were better in metal than in plastic...
Hmm, I like the idea of High Elves (in terms of gameplay, and especially from the movie visuals) but in terms of models they don't quite make my list. The plastics were (if I'm not mistaken) the first ones that ever came out, so the scaling is wrong (they're too small), the details aren't too fine, and the poses are just too static for my tastes. :(
Nothing against them though, as even though they are a bit clone-ish, they still look pretty nice. I just don't want to buy a box of troops for 16 Elves (since I won't be using the Men), when I will be getting at least 20 or 24 of my more preferred sets.
The High Elves lack the newer models' bits, but they are still, first in my heart. I sincerely hope we'll get to see a new army book, based on the Eldar, as well as new minis...after all, they are the first and the best :thumbsup2! Gil Galad definitely needs a new mini, he looks like he is trying to sleep on the Aeglos in this one ....
Well... the High Elves do better for normal combat but the wood elves are less points and are better at hiding in woods. So they make for terrifying ambushes.
It kinda makes you wonder how can the Galadhrim hide in all that shiny, golden armour of theirs...no, wait, this rule applies to the armoured Galadhrim or not :hmm:? Damn, I can't remember...
Ambushing? Is there a rule where they get to start hidden? Elves are allowed to move through woods at full speed (most everyone else only goes half-speed) which is good for flanking/retreating but your opponent can still see your pieces, right?
I am not sure. I think it uses a similiar rule to spider traps.
A battle I played 2 days ago ( Isengard vs. Isengard, 750 pts ). And I finally based my figures :laughter::laughter:

Sorry for bad quality. My camera is old school :thumbsdow:thumbsdow:no::doh::disgust:
I really think you should change camera, m8:tongue:! Other than that, it's good to see people playing strategy battle games...here in Greece, most people think it's like the toy soldiers that kids play at the age of 5:no:
The nearest GW shop is about 20 minutes by train. I can't find opponents..bah, my minis look magnificent on the shelf though!
Well. The camera is made for long distance/family photos. Not really nice zoomed in photos. Unless I am missing something in the functions of my camera? :hmm:
My new Sauron :D
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Neat-o. Will you ever get to play with him?
On a side note, I've recruited a buddy into the game on the same basis that I'm re-joining: after we grow out of playing with toy soldiers, the models will make cool souvenirs of the books/films. He's gonna play High Elves.
Wow, your camera is calibrated at last:tongue:, and your Dark Lord seems suitably pissed off!
+rep :)from me!
More join the ranks of the Eldar...good news!
Thanks guys :)
KippyK - Yes, I will get to play with Sauron. He is 450 points and an ultimate hero killer with a high fight value and high defense. I might get an Orc Battlehost and so I will have my 100 so Mordor soldiers to fight and when they die or run then I shall have Sauron swing his awesome mace and own everyone :)
Sanguinary Guardian - Thanks for the rep  And yes, I finally learned how to get my camera going :)
Russian Gondor, have you got a glimpse on the new plastic Swan Knights? Are they any good(as models I mean)?
Ah yes. They are pretty good. I did not physically open them but I have glimpsed at the box. The models look pretty tight but seem like a pain to paint. As far as in gameplay they should be used as a seperate army and won't work too well with a standard Gondorian army since they need their special heroes.

I think of bolstering my collection with Swan Knights just because they look that good...why they seem like a pain to paint?
Dam you guys lol. I have just gone out and bought some Warhammer to start a collection back up lol
