Wow... I'm finally able to start budgeting for a Euro trip now that I've got the purchase of my new gaming rig out of the way :thumbsup2
Always welcome in Romania
Since I have no idea when or how much money I'll have available yet let's just start with a 5 night 3 day vacation.
How would you budget your time and expenses?
I'm interested in your personal choices (not what you think I might like) this way I can consider things I normally wouldn't if they sound appealing.
Sorry for answering so late, completely forgot lol
Here's the ideas - 3 days in Bucharest - Palace of Parliament, Athenee Palace and the rest of the museums. Check out the local Romanian restaurants, have an evening drink then go enjoy the nightlife.
You'll be kept busy during the day (and especially during the night), so I'd focus on keeping my money for the nightlife, that way you can enjoy it to the fullest. Museums and other attractions have low entrance fees/tickets, so you should be able to see virtually everything without breaking the bank.
Tips - Athenee Palace for a concert and the Lipscani Old Town during late spring/early summer.
I think that if your vacation is for 5 days you should not spend any more than 1 in Bucharest. Way better places to see in the provinces.
I agree with Wallachian. You need not spend more than a day or two in Bucharest. Try to devote some time to Brasov, Sighisoara, and Sibiu. Especially Sighisoara, it is very nice to just sit there and relax. You will never want to leave.
I'm honestly not sure if this will be a dedicated trip or part of a larger Euro trip. So its too early for me to say how long, I know it would probably be hard to experience much in less than 4 or 5 days.
Now when you say night life what do you mean exactly? I assume nightclubs and restaurants. But as this will probably be a solo trip I doubt I'll be hitting night clubs. What restaurants do you recommend?
Pick any one of them in the city centre and you'll be enjoying yourself :D
As the Visit Romania thread passed the 2 year mark, I want to thank everyone who visited and commented over these two years. I hope you enjoyed the posts and hopefully one day you will Visit Romania.
And on that note, here's a spring picture, taken as usual from the Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/273.ro

Last but definitely not least... Happy Easter to everyone! :)
Easter? I didn't know there was a two week update here :)
Eastern Orthodoxy, we celebrate our Easter this weekend :)
Oh yes I forgot about that, remembered after I posted (had to check the dates for a second lol)
A little rising sun from the city of Brasov. :)

Goodness gracious, that's gorgeous!
Hmm... so how about more details on those places recommended above?
Your country looks beautiful Basileos, those pictures make the UK look rather drab in comparison
In terms of geography and natural landscapes i would say Romania is among the most beautiful countries in Europe.
Here's my bit, from the same website that Basileos got the pics
