Yeah does anyone else wanna do that? : My editing skills are equal to colouring in regions and that's pretty much it.
Well I'd have 2 world maps. A map I made for a game starting in 1794 once My Optimated World Map
Both very nice! The first map might be a wee bit unbalanced though, cause Europe has many less regions than most other continents. I say we use the second map because of the pretty rivers. I want ta black out the mountain ranges and some of S. Africa and Australia as well, for reasons above. I can do that meself so you needn't worry your head. Now, IMO there are still too many regions. So we need to decide by how many we reduce them? By two, or three even?
Beautiful Maps Rhine *_^
Both are very nice maps but the first 1 has too few regions and the 2nd has too many Out of the two though I'd generally prefer the 1st one. I say you just add more regions too that one.
Instead of being able to waste more of my time in the Internet starting from the 28th, I won't have Internet access at all until the 6th of July. I humbly request that the GM takes care of my faction until then, and will PM High Fist the details of my first turns as well as my faction template.
Oh shite, nearly forgot about this. Yeah, it's not gonna happen tomorrow cause I have a concert that day so it'll either be the following day or the day after.
Sweet.
When does this RTD start? I even forgot which was my country.
I'll start once EW7's over seeing as it'll be done soon (plus I haven't had internet the last few days so wasn't able to prepare). You can be any country ya want man, you can even be two countries what with the two starting regions.
I have chosen my country already on the first page. I just forgot which country I chose.
Two each?! I am so declaring war on myself!

You create 1 faction, but it starts with 2 regions anywhere you want. Please do not reduce the number of regions. I designed the rules to allow for quick expansion. By the way... I'm thinking about adding this to the rules: battles have 4 rounds of dice rolls. Whichever army has the least units after these rounds has to retreat (but militias are automatically destroyed because militias cannot be stacked in regions). This will make it easier on game masters as they no longer have to keep rolling dice until an army is completely destroyed. Cats
I know it was a joke. Go ahead the game's yours (till it starts ).
Most of us decided that cities should not generate prestige, because a problem with that is naturally you'd build them just to farm prestige.
Is prestige still going to be needed for victory?
I think what we found in previous RTD's that included armies is that they greatly decreased the expansion rate. I think that marching should have an increased probability of success to speed things up a little, especially considering the large size of this map.
Yeah... Shite like marching is something that players would expect wouldn't be a major problem, not a 50:50 chance of succeeding. Might encourage turtling. Instead of generating prestige over time, d'you think cities should just give a flat bonus of 10 prestige (or more)? Prestige is needed for victory, but you have to reach the max amount of 105 and it's a lot easier to lose prestige. One of the things I like most about the army system is that "gifting" regions is seriously nerfed. So Gandhara couldn't gift Portugal a region in the Middle East, allowing Portugal to pounce on some desert men because Portugal wouldn't have an army there. The land would be useless 'till I could get some armies recruited. That said, looking through the rules now I see no mention of gifting. @LoC I think gifting regions (and not armies) would be a nice inclusion in this ruleset. It can't really be abused. Thread will be up either tomorrow or even this evening (evening for me anyway ).
Oh great, I made it to the start of the game after all Btw, welcome back LoC
Under the "Diplomacy and Alliances" section there are the rules for gifting, and yes, you can gift up to 3 regions once every 5 turns. World Wars is a pretty old rule-set now and might need an overhaul. I agree that a 50:50 chance of successfully marching is a bit silly, but I would still like ambushes to be in the game. How about a dice roll of 1 or 2 results in ambush, while a 3 to 6 is successful? Perhaps instead of the standard 6-sided dice we use a 100-sided dice to represent percentages of success? Also your armies can travel rapidly through your territory. If you controlled lands in North Africa and Southern Europe and the Mediterranean sea regions, with 1 move you could move an army from Sudan to France if you face a threat from the north. Thanks, Sleeping Bear. Cheers! Cats
