Hey guys. We can use this discussion for sharing ideas about Clan history and family branches. At the moment there are the main branches that I'm envisioning: 1) The Brunder themselves who are exiled Danes descended from Magnus (Siggard's father). The other Brunder branches' family trees would start from Siggard's brothers or sisters. There's an example of a family tree starting with Siggard in this doc here. If anyone else wants to RPa Brunder I'm happy to do you a family tree, then expand the whole thing to show how they interlink. 2) The Hellveig are from Viken and descended from Yrsa Jofridson. They were facing destruction due to hostile encroachment from the Gunnar Clan and the deterioration of the family's male line. Needing allies, the newly exiled Brunder lend them assistance and become allies and heavily intermarried. Most Brunder are probably married to Hellveig daughters. The Hellveig have been subsumed into the Brunder. 3) The Gunnar - The Gunnar were annexed by the Brunder after they surprised the host besieging the Hellveig and destroyed it. The counter attack seized their holds. Most of the men of fighting age were killed during the battles, leaving lots of eligible brides. The Brunder encouraged their sons to marry into the Gunnar for stability's sake. In the years since the conquest a new generation has come off age, many resentful of their lot. Of course you're free to do whatever you want, but that's a WIP framework I have at the moment. This is all subject to revision based on what you guys think. I'm also happy to do family trees for you all, and a wider Clan tree linking us all together. Just give me the names and who's done what to who and I'll get on with it.
History of the lineage of Siggard Originated from Brønderslev in Vendsyssel, which would later become a far northern region of Jutland, Denmark. The Clan had a range of pastures and crop fields inland around the River Ryå, and several holds on the coastline. This region was also contested by Clans Hawarth and Othinkar, who had a blood feud between each other. 661 - Siggard Magnusson marries Herdis Kollrdottir of Clan Hawarth, sealing an alliance between the two clans. 664 - As the eldest son, Siggard inherits the title of Chieftain after the death of his father, Magnus Jorundson. 665 - Herdis dies while giving birth to her third child, Øybjorn. Sigard is devastated and declares he will not remarry, despite the political advantages of doing so.670 - The Hawarth are placing greater and greater pressure on the Brunder to join their feud against the Othinkar. The Othinkar are likewise petitioning for the Brunder to break off their alliance. Siggard attempts to navigate a diplomatic path that will evade unnecessary wars. 678 - Tensions that have been simmering between Clans Brunder and Othinkar culminate in a summer border raid by the Othinkar. Brunder formally declares war on the Othinkar after a demand for a weregæld is refused at the Þing. Preparations are made for a joint attack on their holds with the Hawarth.679 - The joint forces of Brunder and Hawarth prevail over the Othinkar, temporarily ending their aggressions. The battles are too costly for either the Brunder or Hawarth to press their advantage, so they retreat back to their holds after some hearty pillaging.680 - Siggard’s favourite son, Hrodgæir Siggasson, is sent to the Hawarth to reaffirm the alliance and further intertwine the clans. He is to marry Æstrid Ragadottir, the favoured daughter of Chieftain Erlend Egilson. 680 - The wedding is to prove a disaster when Hrodgæir is found in a drunken stupor near Æstrid’s mutilated corpse. Hrodgæir is rushed back to Brunder lands by his retinue before he can be lynched - he protests his innocence and blames Othinkar assassins. 681 - The alliance between Brunder and Hawarth has absolutely and irreparably collapsed. A distraught Chieftain Erlend Egilson declares a blood feud after Siggard Magnuson - also blaming the Othinkar - refuses to give up Hrodgæir. 681 - Hawarth troops march on Brønderslev that spring. The Othunkar jump at the chance to settle scores (potentially having manufactured the situation themselves) and declare a temporary truce for the purpose of punishing the Brunder. The joint army achieves victory, razes the Brunder lands and inflicts a terrible slaughter on its people. 681 - In order to escape complete extinction, the remnants of the Brunder Clan flee north across the Skagerrak in ships and alight in Viken, Norway. Chieftain Siggard is killed during the onslaught, as are his two eldest sons. The only surviving member of his direct line is now Øybjorn Siggasson, then aged 20. Now a dispossessed exile, he guides what is left of his Clan in settling farms on Norway’s shorelines. 682 - Øybjorn explores relations with his new neighbours. Two clans are located in close proximity - Clan Gunnar and Clan Hallveig. The Gunnar are expansionist and opposed to coexisting with the Brunder. The Hallveig are a Clan in decline, with a lack of sons spelling the family’s eventual eradication. The Gunnar recognise this weakness and are already encroaching on the Hallveig’s borders uncontested. 684 - The Brunder have now spent several years settling, consolidating and improving relationships and trade with the Hallveig. Members of each clan are freely welcomed in one another’s holds. 685 - The relationship between the Brunder and Hellveig is cemented by a Gunnar invasion of the Hellveig’s lands. The Hellveig appear be facing their end when the Gunnar host lays siege to their capitol hold, bottling the garrison within. 685 - Øybjorn musters his troops, raises levies and marches to the Hellveig’s assistance, knowing a strong Gunnar would be coming for the Brunder next. The Gunnar are caught by surprise between the two armies and destroyed piecemeal.685 - Having learnt from his father’s mistakes in dealing with the Othunkar, Øybjorn rallies his remaining men and any reinforcements the Hellveig can offer. They promptly march on the Gunnar’s homelands. With the majority of the Gunnar’s fighting men defeated or scattered, Øybjorn’s gamble pays off and the hold falls with little resistance. 686 - During the victory celebrations, a formal alliance is declared between the Brunder and the Hellveig, with Øybjorn being married to Freydis Yrsadottir, one of Chieftain Yrsa Jofridson’s daughters. Øybjorn is now due to inherit the lands of the Hellveig upon Yrsa’s death, uniting the lands of the Brunder, Hellveig and occupied Gunnar. 686 - Freydis gives birth to Øybjorn’s first son late that winter. He is named Ásketill.692 - Øybjorn and Freydis’ third child, Ærinndís, dies from flu aged 3.697 - A fort is established on the borders of the Brunder and Hellveig lands to defend against outside raiders and train more professional troops. The increased cooperation and intermarriage between the clans has blurred the distinctions between the two to the point of indistinguishability. 700 - Chieftain Yrsa Jofridson dies aged 71, leaving Øybjorn the Jarl of the newly expanded Clan Brunder. The lands of the Hellveig are officially subsumed by the Brunder. While Øybjorn directly governs the lands the Brunder initially settled in, he also appoints two of his trusted cousins to oversee the remaining regions.

I'll get started on that family tree later on today. Could you add birth/death dates and whether the survivors are main or auxiliary characters as well?
Done, also, I seem to have confused the 600's with the 700's, so everything should be bumped back a hundred years
Am I able to do a Family Tree and such as well as a line of events)for the Hellveig?
Absolutely. Pitch em here and we can all discuss it. This is a democracy so far as Clan direction and stuff goes.
