A message from the Senate-Council of the Eastern Roman Empire:




For purposes of the well-being and certain continuation of the Eastern Roman Empire's might and influence upon the civilized people of Europe and the Middle East, the Senate-Council of the Themes, a collection of the 24 representatives (one from each theme elected by the people and approved by the governor to go to Constantinople as the theme's representative), have voted to continue trade with both sides of the Gandhara Wars. Although any alliances for political reasons as to gain or lose support for one side of the war will not be accepted by the Senate-Council, Eastern Rome guarantees un-monopolized free trade, a haven for refugees, and Eastern Rome will only march emissaries of peace to either side in complete neutrality of the war. Any fleet must still request and receive permission to cross the Bosporan directly to the Senate-Council. The final vote was 15 for - 8 against (5 for being too harmful to other nations, 3 for not being harmful enough to other nations.) - 1 abstain. Eastern Rome styles itself as a peaceful, intellectual empire that uses war with rules for intra or inter national greater good. With a heavy heart, friendly alliances with Gandhara have been reduced to a refugee haven and trade rights.

Hopefully no troops or sailors of GDI or Gandharan Alliance will take to brawls on the piers of Constantinople, Thessaloniki, Athens, Ephesus, Trebizond or any place of Eastern Rome jurisdiction; but the Senate-Council will take no chances. Although plans are made for minimal contact between the GDI and Gandharan Alliance sailors and soldiers in Eastern Roman ports, any sort of fight between the two will be met in force on both sides by Imperial Constantinople Police of Urban Limitanei (ICP), hand-picked Comitatenses and officers. When the ICP step in it is a good idea to step out as members of any fight will be labeled Disturbers of the Peace and they cannot disturb if they are unconscious or dead.

I joined the war because it's like three or four on one. It evens the odds a bit, plus I'm not in any way committed to this game as I joined so late.

True, but all the GDI troops will be imported from distant lands. The nearest is the Kingdom of Jerusalem, which is several territories away. It could be like the British in the American Revolutionary War, except the rebels are a massive powerhouse.

Gandhara will ensure that like the war, no hostilities will be begun by us on your soil. Your laws will be respected.

The Eastern Roman Empire never made an alliance with Gandhara (unless you did it via PMs which you didn't give me). Just a trade agreement. The Eastern Roman Empire has been allied with Denezhdh, Jerusalem, and Rome. Are you going to cancel any of those alliances?

I'm sure the Tyrant was just having one of his tantrums... the Caliph will send a diplomat to talk some sense into the Simonese.

Another update. Poor Lycordia... thrown onto the destroyed factions ash heap... I really do think the G.D.I. should start proposing peace to save themselves.

Nah, doesnt really matter at this point. There are 3 players within reach of victory, so we will go down fighting.
