A club name could be like...Royal Blue. Association with the French monarchy. Hey! How about his name be Charles Lafayette, King Charles or simply Charlie. His grandfather was the legendary 'King Louis' who founded the nation in New Orleans. His father continued the name and became Louis II, but decided to name his son Charles. They were originally a family known as (insert original surname) but adopted the Lafayette name due to the square that the palace was located in (Lafayette Square). Charles was named after the street (St. Charles) in which Gallier Hall (the palace) was located on in Lafayette Square. Gallier Hall is located in Lafayette Square and St. Charles Avenue has a lot of mansions that adorn either side of the street. So it really makes sense. Does this sound good?
As some of you may recall, I suggested a riverboat vodou faction. I present a more..detailed version : Sèvitè Reivers Name origin : Haitian Creole meaning 'Servants of the Spirits', and Reiver, or raider(based off the Border Reivers of the Anglo-Scottish border), Alternative could be Routier Landmarks : Several named Riverboats spread across the southern edge of the map, no more than five. Hierarchy : Houngan(Priest, leader of a sect of the cult. Independent from each other entirely) Bokor (Sorceror, Slavemaster/Lieutenants to the Houngan. Typically administer the remedy to those chosen to become 'Zombi') Orishas('Helpers', people who go around preaching their sect's take of the religion religion) Reivers (Standard grunts) 'Zombi' (Slave soldiers given a highly guarded secret herbal/drug/medicinal remedy that causes a condition causing the victim to appear to act like a zombie.) Equipment : *Note : All weapons are done as of now using Fallout 3's arsenal. Will change once we finalize weaponry) 'Zombi' : Lead Pipe/Machete/any basic melee weapon 'Reivers : Machete/Basic Firearms(Hunting Rifle/10mm SMG/Pistol/Shotgun/etc.) Bokor : Chinese Assault Rifle/Ritual Knife Background : Very much a wip, but I was thinking some slavers/raiders found some pre-war vodou texts and became so interested in them they form a new group around it. I know it's kind of Caeser-like. Factional relations : Likely hostile to all other factions. May be neutral to some Cajuns
Alright, well, it's WIP for now. For the different Creole settlements of New Orleans that swear fealty to the King and fall under his protection, I suggest: 1) Bourbon (French Quarter) 2) Lafayette (Central Business District/Downtown) 3) Marigny (Washington Square area) 4) Mount Moriah (Black Pearl) 5) Gentilly Island (University of New Orleans/Lakefront) The last two are smaller and isolated from the heart of New Orleans, but interesting. The rest of New Orleans is submerged, destroyed, or both. Or crawling with mutant monsters, ghouls, or tribes or slavers.
I don't think the Vodoo folks should be so organized though, Xion. They strike me more as the 'cabalist cultist' types, who roam around in little cabals and aren't organized on a mass level.
I have to agree with Sotha. I don't see the Voodoos being organized at all. More so scattered and isolated pockets who do their own work alone. Nice work there Sotha!
Very well, remove the High Priest rank and have each Riverboat/camp/wherever the Vodou sects operate from is independent from the others, led by their priest. The name is a generic, overall one as I figure you guys don't want individual names for each cabal/sect. Hm, the Creole settlements are nice. Well done.
We are going to need a map to list landmarks, settlements and maybe faction spheres of influence.
Sotha has got us covered, Zector. He makes some pretty awesome maps
@Stig: Zector mentioned something earlier about this, but no, there is no such thing as sea travel or trade. The Great War literally destroyed everything that is seaworthy to the point of beyond repair. Wait, people in Fallout 3 from Europe? I highly doubt that unless they had ancestry from Europe before the Great War. At this point, only river travel and trade is acceptable. http://www.1up.com/features/fallout-...pager.offset=2 But it was also an opportunity to introduce another character from outside the U.S. Allistair Tenpenny came to the Capital Wasteland from Great Britain to seek his fortune, so that alone tells you that the U.K. was also hit in the war. And if he came to U.S. to succeed, that says a lot about how screwed up Europe must be. Basically, it's an interview with Fallout 3's lead designer where he says Tenpenny's English. I'm fairly certain it was established in the game's dialogue too. Herbert Dashwood's terminal also mentions Moriarty arriving in the US as a child.
I'm not sure how they get across, but they do.
That is odd. Even though there is evidence, we still aren't certain on how he managed across the Atlantic. I just would rather keep sea travel and trade out of the question really. That is my opinion.
I would venture to say there is some form of functioning military or civilian ship capable of transatlantic travel, but these are likely very rare. I am also against the inclusion of sea travel and trade as the latter, if it occurs at all, probably is at a level in which it isn't worth including as a aspect of the game. While the former would potentially require us to look at potential effects of nuclear fallout on the oceans, animal and plant life in said oceans..it kind of sounds like more work for a aspect that won't be used enough since we're focusing on a specific part of the state of Louisiana to start.
Xion makes a good point there. There may be some form of transatlantic travel, but its so far and few between that it isn't worth noting. I mean out of all the characters in the Fallout lore, only two are said to have come from the outside, with one confirmed from the UK. Now if there was much more than just two, say 10 - 15 characters with similar and confirmed backgrounds, then there would be a case. But since its such a minor mention, I don't think its worth bringing into the game.
If my memory serves me weren't you helping a ship to get fuel so it can go across the Pacific in the fallout 2 so there is some sea travel
Yes, we are aware that there is, Shadow, but its such a minor detail as well as few and far between that it isn't worth bringing into the game. I mean the evidence amounts to one ship quest in Fallout 2, two people who came from outside America in Fallout 3 (with only one who is confirmed to have come over the sea from the UK), its not enough evidence to convince me to bring in sea travel and trade.
I love how the lore is shaping up. I really wouldn't change anything thus far.
I think that we could have some minor area based factions like small independent towns (Like New Vegas), some super mutant remnants or even a vault based faction just to add some diversity to certain areas.
