Relations Deteriorate between the Newer Kingdom of Egypt and the Despotate of Illyria!

Pharaoh Kamose is displeased with the Illyrians’ actions of destroying the civilization of Qart-hadast. The City of Commerce could have very well been that if it had been left alone and allowed to prosper. The Land of the Riverbank always seeks new trade partners and Carthage could have been a most valuable one. The Pharaoh condemns the Illyrians’ warmongering and imperialism. He demands that the city of Qart-hadast be given its independence.

The divine ruler of Egypt also declares that any nation that declares war on the noble Republic of Syracuse will be declaring war on Egypt as well. The Land of the Riverbank will stand by their Greek friends and protect the island of Sicily from any aggressors. The Pharaoh warns the imperialistic Mrsylya-Illyro Alliance to not snuff out the light of independence on Sicily or the Wrath of Horus could very well be brought upon thee...

Peace in Our Time!

Queen Nefertari XIX of the Newer Egyptian Empire has sent Ambassador Ahmose to the rich city of Venice in Italia to hold a conference among the great powers of Europa. The City of Canals is in a very central location that all can reach and is not under the dominion of any of the major nations. Ahmose will act as an intermediary between the various representatives that arrive and will help to achieve peace. His first act is to present a map and discuss the relations between the Kingdom of Hungary, the Barbarians of the East, and the Holy Roman Empire.

Ahmose asks that the Hungarians not be so proud and seeing the Barbarians as people to conquer. He also asks that the Barbarians and Imperials consider peace and be willing to discuss border agreements. Egypt is willing to open up channels for dialogue, but it will ultimately be up to YOU to establish agreements and bring about peaceful resolutions.

All ambassadors are welcome!

Prince-Elector Maximillian IV of Brandenburg, the Imperial representative appointed by His Imperial Majesty the Holy Kaiser Himself to negotiate on behalf of the Holy Roman Empire, arrives in Venice, which was once an Imperial city, to take part in the conference.

Kirila's son , Remus the Half-Barbarian , is ready to speak for his people.

A hooded, cloaked, and un-named ambassador has arrived from Dijon and will speak on behalf of the Restored House.

Ambassador Ahmose rises and bids the current representatives welcome. Refreshments are brought to the tables and seats are offered. "I hope that an ambassador from the Kingdom of Hungary arrives so that negotiations on the three-way border can begin." He turns to the Prince-Elector and the cloaked man from Valois, "I have heard that negotiations between you two peoples have been going well in Frankfurt on the Main. The Empire recognizes the Restored House's independence and both of you are hammering out border agreements. This is most excellent news!

It has come to my knowledge however, that the Empire claims the noble independent Republic of Venice as part of their domains," the Egyptian said to Maximillian. "The City of Canals has prospered much under the rules of their Dodges. Why should it come under the rule of your emperor? There are plenty of rebellious states in Germany that should be of high priority to subdue as they should rightfully be under the rule of your Imperial Majesty. Also the Emirate of Myrsylya has many dominions in Italy. Stacking claims in that peninsula would only cause more friction."

Meanwhile Remus is taking the word:
"Hungarians didn't arrive as they don't want to be forced to have peace , we want it but they don't. Also this year they bordered our lands and the next should come with WAR! My father wants the Egyptians to promise that our men will be supported in case of war! Otherwise , he'll break our trade agreements!"

"Hmm..." Prince Elector says as he takes his seat, not far away from Ahmose. "To be precise, the negotiations with the Restored Valois have broken off completely. They demanded about a quarter of Imperial territories, comprising of all the lands west of the Rhine. His Imperial Majesty was not pleased, and He decided to solemnly refuse such demands and close all negotiations for the time being. There is even a possibility of war breaking out between the House of Hohenstaufen and House of Valois."

He sighs, and speaks - "Many lords of the realm, including myself, support peace, and have convinced His Imperial Majesty to maintain it. As for the Venetians, they used to be a dominion of the Holy Roman Empire in the days of Emperor Barbarossa, and were a chief member of the Lombard League which plotted to gain independence alongside other Italian states. The Imperial rule was restored, but fell into ruin after the Hohenstaufens went away. His Imperial Majesty now plans to restore the Hohenstaufen rule in Italy again."

After taking a sip of fine wine from the goblet his servant brought, he speaks again - "I am seeing that there is a possibility of war in the Balkans, and as a supreme power of the world, The Land of Pharaohs might also be taking part. The threat of breaking trade with the Barbarians is on the hand. What is His Majesty the honourable Pharaoh has in his mind for any such situation?"

“My Queen has sent a message to King Ferenc of Hungary to send a representative here,” Ahmose says to Remus. “I hope he receives it and responds.” The Egyptian frowns and states, “Why do you threaten to cancel a most profitable trade agreement? Don’t your people like to wear cotton clothing, eat filling rice, and taste the sweetness of sugar?” He shakes his head, “I would think that Egypt’s valuable exports wouldn’t be turn down so readily. As for war against the Hungarians… we are not discussing that. Egypt supports no wars among the major powers of Europa. We want to see peace and prosperity. If anyone starts a major war, we will not support them.

The Egyptian ambassador turns to the Prince-Elector. “Oh, well… that is disappointing. But since you and a man from the House of Valois are here, surely you could re-open negotiations?” Ahmose gestures for a servant to come forth and lay down a map. “Here’s that map the House of Valois presented to you to discuss border agreements over.”

“I still think it’s a bad idea for his Imperial Majesty to establish Hohenstaufen-rule in Italia. The Newer Empire of Egypt has a fondness for Venice, the Emirate of Mrsylya has many territories in Tuscany and Savoy, and you would have to establish border agreements with them and our noble allies, the Sicilian Greeks. Italia is just a mess waiting to happen if you move there.”

The Prince Elector gives a light chuckle and says - "Do not be troubled, honourable friend. His Imperial Majesty has no intention of punishing the Lombard League just yet. The main priorities of the Reich for now are to recapture the mainlands and solidify the eastern and western borders."

In a more serious tone, he speaks - "As for reinstating the negotiations with the House of Valois, His Imperial Majesty has agreed but also solemnly stated that the House of Hohenstaufen does not recognize the claims of the Valois. Those are Imperial territories, and shall remain so."

The Un-named Ambassador spoke in a hissing and sinister whisper, “Here is the mouth of the Restored House, hear it speak.”

“For the Prince-Elector Maximilian IV of Brandenburg of the Hohenstaufen House of the Holy Roman Empire: the Chancellor was not pleased with being . . . excessively physically escorted from your palace, but he found a new favorite steed. The Chancellor has also been mumbling that unless the Kaiser made a much more thorough count of region numbers (not size), but that the Restored House did not claim even one-sixth, rather than one-quarter, of the Holy Roman Empire’s claims. It seems no coincidence the Kaiser bade him leave in such a fast horse.

“But Copernum does not rule the Restored House. Any possibility of war will not occur in the near future, while the Restored House is strengthening their borders and laying various plans for various circumstances. There is debate in what the future may hold, of whether or not to pursue the claims we had set. But it is certain that war is undesirable and this the time for another full scale war is not in the near future. Enjoy this peace and hope it lasts, and will we do likewise.

“For Ambassador Ahmose of the New Kingdom of Egypt: Greetings, inhabitants of Egypt. The three-way border you have proposed shows the Holy Roman Empire surrendering rights of the Netherlands to another power. However, if the Holy Roman Empire agrees to this, my masters will wonder they wouldn’t agree to having the Restored House own slightly less than that very land, provided with the geographical bridge be in France or the Holy Roman Empire, not Imperial claimed land or not.

“Either way, we do not know if the House of Hohenstaufen agrees. Nevertheless, the Restored House of Valois would propose a trade agreement with the New Kingdom of Egypt. Our small state has few commodities, but we do have an impressive stock of various wines (red and white!) and timbers, the latter of which I hear Egypt has to import, and we access more of those commodities and new goods with each conquered region. We may ask for assistance on conquering a rebel region. It is likely, but not confirmed. Do you agree with our trade proposal?

Ambassador Starezki arrives to speak on the behalf of his Lord Defender and the Koravesky people. He is clad in thick woollen furs and a thick beard covers his pale face - hardly suitable atire for the warm Venican day. Nonetheless he braves he heat and strides into the conference room, flanked by two grim guards.

'Please excuse my tardiness my fellow ambassadors and representatives. Heavens knows the roads are terrible. The sooner the Reich is restored, the better.' Starezki says, nodding to Prince - Elector Maximilian IV, 'But please gentlemen... do not allow my arrival to interrupt you. Border disputes are a very serious business these days. On behalf of the Coalition I also thank the Kingdom of Egypt for organising this conference. Your hard work in bringing peace shall always be remembered in our lands.'

The ambassador then takes a seat, his guards positioning themselves behind his chair, content to let the western powers discuss trivial matters like the borders of the Rhineland and Balkans for now.

Hungarian claims to avoid war are: Barbarians of Balkans may not expand further into balkans their territory (must seek expansion elsewhere) and must cede two provinces to Hungary as gift and peacemakers for speaking monster lies about Hungary and it ways to treat their new subjects:

Ambassador Ahmose of the Newer Empire of Egypt welcomes the two new guests. To the ambassador of Hungary he states, “I would urge you to drop the ceding regions demand. The Barbarians are a new nation that has few territories while Hungary is a mighty and sprawling kingdom. And considering that the Barbarians live in the Balkans, it seems a bit silly to not allow them to expand there. Hungarians don’t even live in the Balkans; they live in central Europe. What right do you have to restrict them in their own homeland? I suggest you create some maps showing border proposals between your people and that of the Barbarians.”

The Egyptian turns to Remus, “It would be wise to retract your statements about Hungary. I don’t believe you know them that well… perhaps organizing a state visit (ooc: example of state visit: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/group.php?discussionid=7454&pp=10&page=10&do=discuss . Scroll down to the 5th post) to their lands would be a good idea? You would learn about Hungarian culture and perhaps see them as people.”

He comes back to the Hungarian. “It is not warmongering per se, it is just senseless threats and insults that should stop… from both sides.”

Ahmose walks over to the man from Valois. “If the Frisian Tribes ever become expansionist again, they should have room to expand. I believe they have claims on the Netherlands and so we gave them that on the map. I hope the Empire recognizes their independence. The Holy Roman Empire should realize they need not directly control all the regions of the old empire; they could propose that nearby states become their protectorates without losing their independence and influence. Tell your Grand Dukes to consider pledging allegiance to the Kaiser to help him restore the empire while increasing your power in safety.

As for trade… we accept, although it is doubtful how much profit there will be in it. The House of Valois has no port along the Mediterranean that we can reach. Trade will have to go through dangerous rebel-controlled land filled with bandits. Egypt would desire timber for construction and fine French wine for parties as well as pigs for a new food source. We would give you cotton for clothing, sugar for cooking, and rice for a new food source.”

Remus: "I agree as long as they do the same! I retreat my words as long as they recognise the existence of Us, who should be called People of the East (we are no longer Barbarians) , then I will take my father's words back even if they aren't far from the truth..."

The Prince Elector watches and waits, for reply from the unnamed gentleman representing the Valois. He continues to sip from his goblet.

The Un-named Ambassador slowly adjusts his hood. Finally, he speaks slowly and clearly, “Here is the mouth of the Restored House, hear it speak.

“For Ambassador Ahmose of the Kingdom of Egypt: the Restored House is grateful for your acceptance of our trade rights proposal, despite seeing little value to it. Indeed we have commissioned a great caravan to reach Venice, which will then sail en route to Memphis, where your leaders will taste our wines and feel our oaks, and they will decide its value. We shall learn of this commodity you speak us, "rice". No doubt only the wealthy will be ever be able to afford such a resource. May prosperity come for your small service, like the tale of the Mouse and Lion.

“For Ambassador Ahmose of the Kingdom of Egypt and Prince-Elector Maximilian IV of Brandenburg of the Hohenstaufen House of the Holy Roman Empire: We agree to your proposal. The Restored House is willing resign our sovereign independence and become a semi-independent vassal state of the Holy Roman Empire under certain conditions. First, the Restored House’s claims of land in full ( but not conquest of Switzerland) be accepted by the House of Hohenstaufen, who will allow us conquer those lands without hindrance. After we finish, we may conquer what is left of Switzerland, or however much you allow. Third and Lastly, the Holy Roman Empire shall support us of invasion and wars that come unto our lands, and the Restored House shall support do likewise. Under these conditions shall the Restored House become a protectorate of the Holy Roman Empire.

"For the Hungarian Ambassador: Hungary should have no sovereignty over the southern Balkans at the very least. Your aggressive policy has been noted.

"For the Invaders emblazed with Gray invading Flanders: Proceed no further, you have subjugated enough land claimed by the Restored House of Valois.

"Thus saith the Mouth of the Restored House of Valois. Thus saith the Restored House."
