The Emperor gives a gentle smile, and says - "You have truly honoured us, Sir Richard. We certainly accept any gifts, again as a mark of great respect and friendship."
Richard hands an ornate dagger to the emperor; a hilt of gold carved in the shape of an eagle, embedded with a large ruby. The blade was made out of fine folded eastern steel, some of the strongest metal in the known world. The letters "SPQR" were carved into the blade, and Richard slid it back into its fine leather sheath before handing it to the emperor.
The Emperor gently takes the dagger and slides it out. He is suddenly lost into it's striking beauty, as he admires the fine hilt and touches the strong blade. He then sheaths the dagger back in, now observing the leather. Then turns to Richard with a slight bow - "We are truly honoured before you, sir. To give such a wonderful gift is an act of greatness. From now on, you and the King have permanent citizenship in the Roman Empire." He then looks at the gold and marble-laden ceiling as a faint memory passes his mind. He had heard the story of Governor Claudius Fabius Canina of Britannia during his childhood, where the Governor and his Legion was ambushed by a large barbarian force that had landed a month ago from the unexplored Scandinavia. All of the Legionaries had died in the ensuing battle save one who somehow escaped to tell the story, and at last Claudius was left alone, surrounded by the barbarians. He took out his legendary dagger which was given to him by a mysterious old man during his visit to Damascus. He valiantly fought to death and the barbarians looted everything from the Legion they could. The dagger was saved from them but went missing afterwards, and was not found ever....
