They had many past times besides warring with other clans. Most of them were Buddhists who believed all life was important, but also to try and live in the moment. One way to do this was to simply observe a sunset and realize that there would never be another sunset that was the same. Therefore they took in the beauty of a simple sunset for its own uniqueness. The art of Hana Kotaba served a similar purpose. Setting flowers in a specific way so that each part could be appreciated within the whole arrangement. RP Choose between 1 and 3 flowers for your arrangement. Also choose a vase. Lists are provided for both with meanings for each. The describe you how will set the flowers. The more specific you are, the better the RP and the more points you will earn. It can be as simple as: "Matusi places the rose at a 45 degree angle in the vase, the long stem only has 1 leaf on the left side." You do not have do give any information or explanation as to why you did it or what theme you were tying to give off. The is for the individual viewer to experience himself. However you might want to consider who you are setting the flowers for, your lord, another Daimyo, a female, a monk, etc. Flowers List of Flowers Amaryllis - ShyAnemone - SincereAmbrosia - PiousAster tataricus - RemembranceAzalea - Patient/ModestBluebell - GratefulCactus - LustCamellia(red) - In loveCamellia(yellow) - LongingCamellia(white) - WaitingCarnation - Fascination, Distinction and LoveCherry Blossom - Kind/gentleChrysanthemum(yellow) - ImperialChrysanthemum (white) - TruthFour lead clover - luckyDaffodil - RespectDahlia - Good tasteDaisy - FaithEdelweiss - Courage/PowerForget-me-not - True LoveFreesia - ImmatureGardenia - Secret LoveHabenaria radiata - My thoughts will follow you into your dreamsHibiscus - GentleHoneysuckle - GenerousHydrangea - PrideIris - Good news/Glad tiddingsJasmine - Friendly/GracefulLavender - FaithfulLily (white) - purityLily (orange) - hatred/revengeTiger lily - WealthLily of the Valley - SweetRed Spider Lily - Never to meet againLotus - Far from one he loves/purityMagnolia - NaturalMistletoe/Holly - LookingMorning glory - Willful promisesNarcissus - Self-esteemPansy - Thoughtful/caringPeony - braveryPoppy (red) - Fun lovingPoppy (yellow) - SuccessPoppy (white) - RejoicePrimrose - DesperateRose (red) - In loveRose (white) - Innocence/SilenceRose (yellow) - JealousyRose (pink) - trust/happiness/confidenceSweet Pea - GoodbyeTulip (red) - Fame/charity/trustTulip (yellow) - One sided loveVerbena - CooperativeViolet - HonestyZinnia - Loyalty Tea CeremoniesThe tea ceremony played an important part in the life of Japanese samurai during this time period. It was a very formal affair and had specific rules and movements that were to be followed. Simple things like how to hold the sleeves of your Kimono and where you placed items were important and primarily came from needing to not knock over or spill anything during the ceremony. Eventually each movement become extremely defined and how you performed the ritual showed how refined and educated you were. Each daiymo had his own tea house, usually in a quiet and secluded area of his compound or house. The house was arranged in a specific way, and visitors and host sat in a predetermine area, usually on cushions. The host prepared and served the tea, usually with little talk as the visitor observed his movements and methodology. After receiving the tea he would complement his host, or perhaps offer suggestions on new teas he had tried. They would proceed to talk about other affairs in a relaxed setting, without fear of being overheard.
