The subject here is easy, what is are view as an agnostic on Isam? Mine is Isam is great at first glace but then goes down hill, then just falls straight down when it cames to Science. Isam a Religion once that worked with maths and the understanding of the world, now looks like a religion for hut building barbarians.
Yeah, i've got to agree with you. The Islam of the past was very much enlightened. Without it, and many muslim scholars, we wouldn't have recovered even a scrap of roman and greek texts. They also contributed greatly to science - apprantely, a Islamic Caliph has a section of the moon named in honour of him. Nowadays...no where near as enlightening. Islam seems to be spilt from the moderate, liberal muslims (I'm friends with some) and terrorists.
What is our view as agnostics? It's a religion not necessarily the truth.
My opinion is that if there is a god (something we do not know, and probably will never know), people cannot be slaves of god,...
I think that someone needs to start working towards restoring Islam (Preferably a Muslim) to a religion of educated scholars and great thinkers, While there are still those Muslims who are educated individuals there are more who are uneducated and easily manipulated.
I'm fairly confident moderate reformed Islam is actually the most wide spread, but you wouldn't know it based upon watching the news.
Yeah true, Islam is just an evolution of judeo-christian religion. Them and the Byzantines led the way in science and tech for thousands of years.
