So I just read Eye of the World, and I was entertained, but I have a question about the last few parts of the book:

What happened to Aginor and Balthamel?

Aginor and Balthamel were 'killed' per-say.

Anyways I'll be starting Crossroads of Twilight after a 2month hiatus due to my dreaded English class

btw you can use the following website as it has a chapter-by-chapter summary of what happened. I use it quite often if I don't understand wth just happened: http://www.encyclopaedia-wot.org/
Beware of spoilers, especially the footnotes and subscripts.

A friend of mine gave me Eye of the World a very long time ago and I was instantly hooked by the story and characters. I am very particular when it comes to fantasy books. A good magic system is a must and should be a tool not a cure all for every problem that comes up. I instantly had an opinion on most of the characters which is a good thing. I didn't like Mat which is funny because now he is my favorite character. I also liked how progressive the book was considering it is set in a medieval setting. What I mean by that is the fact that women kinda rule the land. Like the Queen of Andor, the Aes Sedia, or the Women's circle. Women in most lands in the WoT world run the show. I thought that was a nice change and adds to the story a lot. Jordan plays the sexes off of each other very well. Once I finished it I couldn't wait to get my hands on the next.

That may be so, but not in the Borderlands.

I said most lands not all. I thought that it was a nice change to the perceived time period.

I have a question dealing with the end of Winters Heart that I can't make a heads or tails out of.

How did Rand exactly cleanse saidin? I've read the summary but I really don't understand it and why it involved Shadar Logarth

How did Rand exactly cleanse saidin? I've read the summary but I really don't understand it and why it involved Shadar Logarth
This is my opinion: I think Rand used saidar as a funnel for saidin. He directed saidin into Shadar Logoth and used the city's taint as a filter against the Dark One's taint. Both evils cancelled each other out. "The taint on the male half had its opposite twin, too." About saidar and saidin: "He thought of it as a tube,... Drawing on saidin,..., he forced it into the flowery weave of saidar. And it flowed through.... Pure saidin, pure except for the taint, touched Shadar Logoth" (744) Robert Jordan, Winter's Heart, Paperback edition.
