Bowmaking is taking a short break....

Yea after the breaking of my green and red bow i decided to make the ultimate bow. A bow truly made from the land. I couldnt be ed going out to the other side of town to buy a 20 dollar, ocassionly mediocre piece of wood.

Though this is a long term plan. It will take literally 3 years at the very least. I decided to make a 'bowyers plantation'. From a quick glimpse it just look like an ordinary home grown marijuana thing but its actually a dozen apple trees grown from seeds. I'm intending on shaping these trees to be perfect for bows. If all goes according to plan, 1 tree should provide 1 bow stave if not 2.

Though i do have 1 bow left. Its a bow i made from a stave i found lying on the ground in a school. Its made the traditional way where you split a log in half and go on from there. Though its pretty dam weak. Drawn up to the elbow, weighing at around 20lbs. This is merely a slightly powerful toy. A scaled down longbow.

I'm not an expert but i can tell you that while the process is easy to learn, mastering it is hard. Dont be surprised if your first handful of bows either snap or are underweight. I can give you some help if you do happen to give it a go.

I have tried many tutorials on the net, but none giving you the hands-on idea about making one...
Looking forward to it, and make it in a new thread...
