Has anyone seen any of the television series? According to Wikipedia the...
first live-action screen adaptation for television (Terry Pratchett's Hogfather) was broadcast over Christmas 2006. A second, two-part TV adaptation of The Colour of Magic was broadcast in March 2008 in the UK.

I can't imagine a real-life actor playing my favourite Discworld characters to be honest... And the stories in the books tend to be a bit confusing, especially in the beginning although all pieces fall together in the end. I read Christopher Lee voiced Death in the Colour of Magic, and I think that was a brilliant choice. The only parts I watched were some Youtube fragments, and that's about it. I live in Belgium, so I doubt I will be able to find it on dvd or television.

There also were several animated series, anyone seen them? Did they follow the Kirsby art style or not?

I've seen Hogfather and it was alright, but the Colour of Magic was pretty lame, and I did not like the choice for Rincewind at all.

The only animated series I've seen was the Soul Music one which wasn't too bad.

The Colour of Magic movie was made for children solely. Admittedly, Pratchett's stories are children's stories but adding "for adults". The colour of magic failed to incorporate that part, which resulted in inferior dialogs, a total lack of word juggling and pie-to-the-face jokes. I'd probably love it as a kid but having read the story as an adult, I was silently crying my way through the whole movie.

The Hogfather was a little better. Still, Pratchett's qualities was lost in the adaption to the movie as well. I just couldn't stand the interpretation of mr. Teatime but that's just personal taste.

You know, I don't think it's the sceneries or special effects that's lacking in the movies but the way the story is conveyed. Without Pratchett's subtlety and finesse in progressing the story and the characters it's just rather blunt.

I have not seen any of the cartoons. Would anyone recommend any of them?

Only the trailer, and it looks a bit cheesy to be honest. Too much overacting. But let's not be too harsh, like I said I haven't seen it yet. Did you?

Nope, haven't seen any of them. Best one is supposed to be 'Hogfather'. Who's filming Nightwatch? The same company from 'Going Postal'?

Ha! Judging by the trailer, Going Postal actually seemed to be pretty decent.
