A diplomatic party approaches the governor's palace, led by Kallistos Tzamkalon. He is accompanied by twenty Kataphractoi who are armed to teeth, and are clad in steel from head to toe. Even their horses are armoured so heavily that they can barely gallop. They ride in a great discipline to the front of the palace, in the manner of civilized Romans that was no less elegant than modern manners. Kallistos dismounts and walks to the guard post, and says - "We come with a diplomatic message from the Roman Empire. We wish to tell Governor of British Africa that Basileios Konstantinos III is friendly towards the fellow people of Europe. His Imperial Majesty thinks that there is a great opportunity of lucrative trade between our people. And the Council has also noted that the British Empire has been a good friend of the Romans in the past. So we come here to propose a trade agreement and alliance to the British people. If the British Governor is in the palace, please give him this scroll detailing all the possible treaties." He hands over a gold-embedded scroll to the guard, and stands outside the gate to wait for an answer. OOC: That is the photo of Rashtrapati Bhavan of India, isn't it? The President of India resides there.
Dozens of servants and palace workers scurry about to make sure the Kataphractoi's horses are taken to the stables, and that all of the Romans are accommodated in the palace. The roman leader is bought into the Governor General's private office, where he is seated on a couch and provided with a variety of Indian and tropical delicacies, as well as some fine wine. The governor smiles at the roman, and sips his wine as he unfurls the scroll. Salutations, noble Roman. The Britsh Government is most pleased with your presence, as not only do I wish to establish good relations with the roman colonies; Her Britannic Majesty does too. Now, what do you wish to discuss with this humble servant of the British Empire?
The leader of the diplomatic party, Kallistos, admires the fine wine and savours the delicacies elegantly. He then speaks, head bowed low - "We are honoured by the generosity you have bestowed upon us, my lord. We have come here to discuss trade agreement and a pact of alliance between Roman Empire and the British Empire. As you know, Romans and British have always been close and loyal to each other. You might have read in history books how Caesar Augustus was devotedly loyal to the British Empire and Queen Elizabeth, how together they crushed the league of barbarians they call The Eastern Powers Alliance, how their both empires flourished, a long time ago. Ages have gone by since that time. Roman Empire is a shadow of what it once was. We tragically lost Rome to the barbarians, and there was no one in this world who had not wept that day. We somehow continued our empire in the east, but lost most of our lands there as well. We were about to meet our end at the siege of Constantinopolis in 1204 when we surprisingly won against the treacherous Venetians through Roman honour and valour. We lost even more of our territories and during this time, the alliance between the Romans and British had slowly faded away. Now that the Roman Empire is slowly recovering, Basileios Konstantinos III is interested in renewing the same old warm friendship that existed centuries ago between us. We Romans are always fiercely loyal to the British Empire, and always will be. What is your answer, my lord?" He waits for an answer, still bowing to the Governor.
He nodded. I readily accept. May both our empires prosper from this generous agreement.
Kallistos again bows low before the governor elegantly, and spoke - "If you would permit, my lord, we would like to begin our journey back to Gaza outpost, where the Governor of Alexandria awaits us with the answer. We are honoured by your generosity and sense of wisdom." He then backs out of the office as is the Roman style of juniors leaving the seniors.
He smiled, and began to write his report to the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. Before you go - allow me to present the Roman Emperor a gift. We shall send 1000 of our finest Highland Riflemen to serve under your Emperor - I shall also forward a request to the Queen to have His Imperial Majesty inducted into the Most Noble Order of the Garter. May the friendship between both our empires last for eternity.
He bows very low before the Governor, smiles, and takes off his helmet as a mark of respect. He says - "We are humbled and honoured to have you as allies, my lord. May God be with the Queen and the Emperor forever!" He then backs out of the room into the corridor, and then walks back to his escort of Kataphractoi. They then go into the stable where they get their horses, and then they ride away in the direction of north.
I'm not really a role-player, so I'll get right to the point... Your location at the most southern point of South Africa is most beneficient for trade. Thus we would like to humbly request trade with you, so as to profit a little from it as well
