    Rome.

Rome. The city of the seven hills. An ever changing city, but one that always has and always will have gold running through it like water. For if Rome is one thing, it is rich. Merchants from as far east as Persia and as far north as Novgorod come here to trade and exchange goods with the unimaginably wealthy merchants who grow fat and decadent off the exotic goods and slaves sold in the streets. The roman ruins still stand, a testament to time, and the old roads and sewers are being repaired and renewed under the stewardship of the new empire. Baths, aqueducts, sewers, and toilets are being refurbished and now Rome can begin to boast it is the cleanest city, as well as the most beautiful. A renaissance of Roman culture is happening in this city, and statues and buildings that are constructed are being built in the old style of antiquity. Truly, this is the rebirth of Rome. And she shall be great again.

The Caesar nods, listening to the Gallic envoys words.

"I can agree to trade, and friendship. However, Rome wishes control over the entire Italian peninsula. To this end, my Augustus asks that Gallic forces do not enter Italy, and in turn, Roman forces shall not cross the Alps into Gallia. The Emperor wishes for a strong, stable Roman government to rule in Gaul. Now your nation has arisen, we are content to allow you to conquer Gallia, Britannia and Hispania. If you desire."

One of the noblemen, a patrician, turns to the envoy and points towards the recently constructed Imperial Palace that sat atop of the Palatine hill. He studies him slowly, seeing if he can suss out the story of this peculiar foreigner.

"I believe the Augustus is terribly ill. However, I am sure that the Caesar will have an audience with you, providing you're important enough."

'You don't need to worry yourselves good Romans; we're plenty important enough. Very well, we will have an audience with the Caesar.' He makes his way to the Palantine Hill, marvelling at the brimming energy of a city rediscovering its exulted past.

The Praetorians let him in, and he kneels in front of Severus. 'Honourable Caesar, I come to offer a trade agreement. In abundance we have grain, grapes, barley, fruit, goats, cattle, win and timber - we hope those good would be useful for Rome, and in return we ask for any surplus you have to offer.'

"We do not wish to support either side, for now. We are in no position to help either side in this war, so therefore Rome does not wish to make false promises of help."

"Greetings Imperator!" a French ambassador announces his entrance.

"We are willing to gift you the land beyond the river of Savoie. We do not require it and it makes our lands look bad from the map-makers' point of view. Do not worry, we have yet to colonize it so you should have no problem instaurate your rule there, mighty Caesar."

He pauses for a while and continues.

"In its place we want an Alliance between our people and a Trade Agreement so both our nations flourish with wares from the Mediteranean and Europa Occidentalis. And maybe one day, you'll be able to return us the favour."
