OOC: I might not be as good at chess than zero, so this is the scenes with chess in them (of zero)
    (Spoilers Ahead)

"Black" Zero smirks. The starting move is a very important one, aggressive or passive? The game of masters is decided within a few minutes.
"As you wish, we propose a trade agreement."

"I have returned from the Council where I carried your request to them," Queen Jadikira says. "Unfortunately, a majority have rejected your offers in light of recent events. While providing sanctuary to a government and people fleeing from war and conquest is commendable under most circumstances, it just so happens that the nation you are harboring is our enemy.

I'm afraid you'll have to leave and come another time when tensions have been reduced."

"As you wish, we propose a trade agreement."

Jadikira analyzes the board, considering her numerous options. "Trade with the Tin Isles would be most profitable indeed. Once the Crimea is secured, the Confederacy's next objectives are the Pillars of Hercules." She moves a pawn to e4. "Our merchants would be protected as they sail to and from the Mediterranean."

The Queen straightens. "Besides tin, there is wool and coal you can offer us as well. In exchange Crete can supply you with olives, clams, ceramics, and valuable saffron spice. Tariffs would be lowered to a minimum and our ports will have merchant quarters dedicated to conducting business with the Japanese traders.

Would this agreement be acceptable to you?"

"Interesting move, very aggressive, it allows the Queen and Bishop free, such is an opening move in one of the quickest ways to win." Zero thinks, he chooses the pawn and advances it to G6. "As for your proposal, yes trade is acceptable. but what is your posistion to a military alliance?"
Zero analyses her face, "what is your obsession with lowering the tarriffs, lower tarriffs mean no money accumlated for you, neither I."

"Not until your threatening fleet in the Black Sea has been eliminated!" Queen Tarina declares. "Either you destroy it, gift it to us, or we sink it in glorious battle. Only then will we, the Ruling Council, be open to discussing peace."

"Lowering tariffs is a sign of friendship," Jadikira explains. "It makes our goods more affordable to your people to enjoy and vice versa. As for money... Crete is already one of the wealthiest nations in the world. Money is just a means to an end. And that end is enriching civilization: funding the arts, sciences... and defenses of our people.

Unfortunately, the Ruling Council is not interested in pursuing an alliance with the U.S.J. at this moment," she says while moving another pawn to D4. "Your announcement to seize the Azores and Canaries has upset quite a few members. Crete is currently suffering an overpopulation problem and we are looking for new places to colonize, preferably islands."

OOC: I assume you mean Knossos, though Malia (ruled by Queen Sama) is on the north coast too. There are no governors btw, each city on Crete is ruled by a priestess-queen or king elected for life.
    IC:
The emissaries are guided to the home of the priestess-queen of Knossos. "Welcome, noble ally!" Queen Jadikira beams. "What can I do for you?" Servants offer drinks and food for the guests.

The Byzantine diplomat starts explaining his master's plan:"Look,we have under our control a region which is in lands that you would like to have under your control. We would like to ask you if you're still interested in Greece, because if you're still interested,we would like to gift you that region. We respect your claims, but sometimes our generals are a bit stupid, and they attack lands which we're not supposed to own. This is the region:

If you're interested, please let us know."

OOC:I don't actually know how your version of ancient Crete works,or where are the cities located.

OOC: you thought I wasn't playing EWs anymore, didn't you? Yes, I want that region back, please. My faction is based off of the Minoan Civilization and my own imagination, which is pretty easy to do since we don't know much about the Minoans.
IC: "We have been very busy with the war against Zolland, and so have overlooked many areas of the world we would have spread glorious Cretan civilization to," Jadikira explains. "But yes, Greece remains in our sphere of influence and we would greatly appreciate the region of Aetolia being given to us. You are a truly honorable and trustworthy ally!"

Jadikira hands a long and flat object, wrapped in silky material, to the Byzantine diplomat. "I would like to present a state gift to your Emperor. It is a game board made of gold and crystal. One can play Somnium on it, the pieces of which are included.

May our friendship continue to prosper!"

"I apologise, I did not declare a claim, just notifying my interest, I would be happy to cede the claims from the islands, I simply need the african region to circulate trade." The translator finishes. Zero moves his pawn to f5. "You have no support line for your pawn."

@Librarian: Knight moves to c3. Crete has decided not to make an alliance with the U.SJ. since they are on the other side of the continent.

@Emperor PooMan: That definitely does not please Crete. The 2 options we gave you are -- destroy the fleet or gift the fleet to us. Failure to do either one means we will engage your fleet until it is destroyed in glorious battle!
