~ Interstellar Civilizations Map Game Overview ~ The player chooses a race, such as Mammals, Reptilians, or Mechanicals, and tries to colonize as many star-systems as they can. Star-systems contain randomly generated worlds. Worlds provide resources that allow players to purchase population and technology as well as military units and agents. World terrain, such as Terran, Volcanic, or Gaseous, determine how much food, industry, and science points are provided. Food leads to population units which allow you to colonize, industry allows you to build, and science gives you technology. You can build improvements on worlds to increase their yields. You can build developments in star-systems to unlock units and agents. With industry and the necessary development you can build space and ground units. Space units are ships, such as a Colony Ship, Scout Ship, or a Battleship, which can be grouped together to form fleets. Fleets move through space sectors and perform a variety of tasks for your faction. Ground units, such as Infantry or Artillery, can be grouped together to form armies, which are stationed on worlds and can be transported on certain ships to conquer other worlds. You send ships out to explore space sectors. This is how you discover new star-systems and make contact with other factions. Space battles occur when ships of two belligerent factions enter the same space sector. The attacking player gives orders to their ships and roll dice at rolz.org to resolve the battle. The types of ships, results of agent missions, and techs give bonuses and penalties to the combat rolls. Ground battles occur when an army invades a world defended by an enemy army. They are resolved in the same manner as space battles. Characters, such as Diplomats, Commanders, or Saboteurs, can be created to perform a variety of tasks for your faction. Diplomats allow diplomacy between players and with non-player controlled factions (NPCs). Some treaties include: Trade Agreement, Research Sharing, and Defense Pact. Technology, which is acquired by science points, can unlock new abilities for your faction. Some techs include: Wormhole Stabilization, Astro-Engineering, and Antimatter Containment. Turns last 1 week, which represents 1 Earth-Year. Game begins in 2500 CE. At the end of each turn, players record their current number of units, population, resources and techs. If they have enough resource points they can make a purchases post. Movement, exploration and battles occur in real-time and the players resolve them on this thread. My duty as Game Moderator is to clarify the rules and provide an updated map weekly. There are 3 ways to win the game: Expansion, Conquest, or Transcendence Victory. Feel free to ask any questions about game concepts. This game will be launched when War of the Ring finishes. Cheers! Cats
