Actually, though, the harp on the actual Protectorate Jack has only seven strings, not thirteen. The Irish government uses thirteen strings, so that flag can be taken as offensive.

Bah, you Irish and your strings!

Ah, you mean Cromwell. Well, as you said you should rise above it- you got your independence in the end.

Yep, 'though it'll be a bit hard, RTÉ is showing 'Hidden History: Cromwell in Ireland' tomorrow. That, and 'Where Was Your Family During The Famine' which just finished a half hour ago has left me a bit anti-British at the moment

I can and Caradog can. Ruire, are you fluent in Irish Gaelic?

Fluent? God, no. I used to constantly fail Irish until a few years ago, when I started the basics again and ended up getting decent grades That and finding out that Irish was once dominant in these Isles.

I do have enough to read and write, but not really to speak it... yet, I am trying, though!

Irish and Welsh seem to have some similarities, just the writing style is completely different.

In my opinion they have the best archers and spearmen in all of Medieval 2 (and no, I'm not being biased ) and I was also quite impressed by their heavy cavalry and skirmishers, and I was surprised that Wales has a gunpowder unit (which was actually quite formidable). Their non-spear infantry though was dissapointingly poor. The rhyfelwyr are the best of Welsh infantry, but they're only average- I was hoping that CA would give them some kind of cool guerrilla unit that had the 'can hide anywhere' trait. Still, their other strengths make up for this.

llewelyn is pretty good in it but didn't they miss out some feature when you take the english border settlements?

If you capture English border settlements you get reinforcements (if the official 1.05 patch is installed) and if the English capture Welsh settlements you gain reinforcements.

I documented all the reinforcements you gain in more detail on the TWC wiki (on the Wales page).

It does help when playing as Wales, although it does harm your treasury slightly with all the upkeep.

Once you conquer Ireland as Ireland (rather simple task), you gain an ungodly income, I was churning out merchants to boost my income, as I couldn't spend the money fat enough!

Now I want to try Cymru...
