They command complete authority in their office and answer only to the King himself, and they also form the King's cabinet, along with the Prince of Wales and the Constable of the Tower. Each High Lord will serve in his office for a maximum of 5 years, and provided he is still in office by the end of those 5 years, he will become an automatic candidate for the next election. The King has the power to remove any First Lord from office whenever he so pleases. Appointment: The choosing of the First Lords is a semi-democratic process. Firstly, parliament will vote on 3 viable candidates for each office, and then the King (with the help of his advisor's if he requests them) will choose his favoured Lord form those candidates. When an audience with the King or Constable is granted, you are expected to follow basic court etiquette. When the King/Constable is satisfied, diplomatic discussion may begin.
Our King Ferdinand III would like to trade with King George I.
Trade! Trade is always good yes? Wanna trade Pokémon cards? Houses? Anything! For a small price of one (humnberedred) coins, you can have this and more! Whaddaya say? ;D
I would also like to offer trade
With the King away on a military campaign to the south, Constable Benjamin of Westminster addresses the 3 foreign dignitaries "Trade is always a mutually profitable agreement, especially in these dark times, where our nation lacks any trade partners. So on behalf of the Kingdom of England, all 3 proposals are accepted".
The Greater Gandharan diplomat offers trade and alliance.
The constable of the tower addresses the Gandharan diplomat "An alliance would not be in our best interests with your faction at this time. We mean no disrespect, but due to the vast distance between us, it would be very difficult for us to actually honour the alliance should such a time come. But your proposal for a trade agreement is happily accepted."
(Lol he fell for it ) Ahem, thank you for your generosity and trust, O wise and noble manservant.
"King Ferdinand is satisfied. Maybe later in the future we could be allies?"
"An alliance you say? I would hope such an agreement could be reached in future, for I am certain England will need the help of strong factions such as Castile."
"We Spaniards are powerful, ya know. We could aid you in your wars."
"I'm sure you would be of great assistance, but fortunately we are in a peaceful position at present. But do not mistake us for the weak and needy, we would be just as willing to support you in future conflicts."
The Merchant Republic of Norway has a proposal. Proposal Why, an alliance, of course! We are made for each other, England! Look; we have close proximity but are separated by the sea, so no squabbling over land! Our navies can protect each other in the north sea and at the very least we can rest with the knowledge that our home ports are safe. Doesn't it look grand? Whaddaya say? ;D
After listening to the Norwegians proposal, Constable Benjamin asks the diplomat to wait patiently whilst he discusses the terms with his King's advisor's. They leave through a small passage behind the Monarch's grand throne, and silence falls in the room. After a relatively short wait, Benjamin returns with the advisor's and with a large smile on his face, deliver's their verdict "The decision was unanimous, an alliance between us would clearly be very beneficially for both our kingdoms, and together our naval dominance of the Northern Seas would go unchallenged (well, once we construct a navy obviously). We did notice your claim on the Shetland Islands, however we are willing to cede the islands, with the promise that no Norwegian troops will set foot on the rest of the British Isles. if that term is agreeable, our alliance can be confirmed." An advisor then brings forth an alliance document, and he hands the Norwegian a quill pen with which to sign the parchment.
"You're generosity is boundless, oh magnificent magisterial manservant," the advisor says as he bows, nose pressing against the ground. He rises and signs the document, "of course, we would not even think to consider taking anything else from the British Isles, though if we were to consider taking anything, not that we are, but if we were it'd be the Orkney Isles. And what's there? Sheep, and little else. Hah! Not good for trade, oh no, you may have Orkney, take it, take it!" And on he rambled, as he returned to his exaggerated bow and backed out of the hall, a small trail of mucus following his path.
An Emissary arrives at the Tower Of London, and says the following. "Senior, The Holy See has a request for you, I am a diplomat from Jerusalem and I wish to negotiate the following terms." The Diplomat clears his throat and opens a scroll. "Like most other Catholic Nations, His Holiness the Pope officially requests an Alliance between the Holy Empire Of The Papal States and the Kingdom Of England. Additionally, he requests trade rights over the sea from Jerusalem. As for a final detail. The Pope has taken Interest in the new world and requests you take an Inquisitor if you decide to take a force over there, To destroy any heretics in your path, of course."
As he was currently present in the tower, his royal highness himself, King George I, personally addresses the diplomat from his exquisitely carved royal throne. "It is truly a blessing to see the Papacy has survived through these torrid times. Of course the trade agreement will be accepted, and the major port of Bristol shall be designated to house the Papal merchants, between their long journeys. I will also make sure to appoint an inquisitor for the journey to the new world. George I snaps his fingers, and a young servant rushes over with a quill-tipped pen, which the King uses to sign the trade agreement. He sits back in his throne once more. "Your alliance request however, will have to wait until it has been extensively discuss with the members of my personal cabinet. I invite you to stay in our grand capital as a personal guest of mine whilst you await our decision. He then rises from his throne, and dispatches runners to collect the Cabinet members. Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly remembers one last thing.. "Ah yes, I almost forgot to mention, as a result of good Gregory Phillips becoming an official cardinal, he has been granted the title of 'Archbishop of Canterbury'. Just thought you would like to know."
"Yes, yes, take all the time you need." The Diplomat begins to walk out, "Do not forget to put Gregory in your official listings and our trade in your declarations. When can I hope to receive the decision?" He turns around, "I do have a comment. The Cardinal College is not full, all reconciled factions have a chance for another seat at the table." Then he walks off to reside at his quarters in the palace.
A panting diplomat bursts his way through the doors. "I have an urgent matter for you." He sprawls a scroll across the table, "The Amazonians plan to attack us and cut off out trade and supplies, oh please God have mercy," The man does a holy cross sign on his chest. "What his holiness requests is would you be willing to temporarily giving us a place to set up. We may need to pull out the holy land. It can be an Island It doesn't need to be on the main Island, this is urgent. Consider quickly."
I assume this is a mute point now? I'll answer the alliance later, in a rush right now.
