This is the place to talk about the game without using role-play or junking up the main game thread with non-move posts. This is also where any of you can ask me, the Game Master, for rules clarification or advice. Cheers! And good-luck in zapping alien foes!
Announcements @Lenin Cat: you cannot declare war on anybody until both you and the victim have completed their first 5 turns of the game. @Rogue Gen: thank you for helping Lenin out with the star-system development. Your start location has been changed. Originally Posted by Rogue General Also, a question: What do the blue squiggly lines on the map represent? The thick blue lines are wormholes. The borders the wormholes are on are not impassable; you can move a fleet across them to the nearby sector. @Spartan999: borders made impassable by asteroid fields? That's not a bad idea actually... I might change the map later. Anyway, the blacked-out sectors are impassable due to radiation, supernovae, or blackholes. Cheers! Cats

Ok, I switched the colours around again. This is final: Cylon Empire (Lord of Cats) - Dark Red Protoss Protectorate (Spartan999) - Bright Red Feline Furrdom (Rogue General) - Hot Pink Great Socialist Feline State (Lenin Cat) - Yellow Acyl Brood (High Fist) - Light Orange 66th Envysione Corpe (Ivan Braginski) - Gold Intergalactic United Penguin Nations (fredtrotter) - Blue

The only way to change position now is to start over from scratch. Do you want to do that? You only have 1 production point towards a research system, so it might not be that big of a deal for you. I therefore placed him were he is now as the yellow faction (because he also didn't pick a colour except red which was taken by Spartan). That is why he is so close to you on the map. And there are no cities btw. Players control star systems (which are the large white circles that can be filled in with faction colours) and can develop them (which works the same as building cities in other RtD games).
Also why is my star system flat gold whereas the others have a 3D tint?
I want red. NOW. Spartan can have something else.
Pink is clearly the best color ever. @LoC Ah, thanks for the clarification. Another question: What about the purple/blue regions that don't have the big white circle in it? Can they be conquered, or developed? Or is it just empty space? And I love the story btw, it's quite fascinating. I'm eager to read more.
@Ivan: that’s the color you put on your location map. I used the “pick colour” tool to find out its rgb value. I don’t know what you mean by 3D tint. Can you please explain? @Lenin and Spartan: do I need to do a dice roll for you two to determine who gets what colour? 1 to 3 Lenin gets Bright Red and 4 to 6 Spartan has to pick something else. Is that seriously what I have to do? @Rogue: while I disagree that pink is the best colour, thank you for your interest in my story. New chapter will be posted shortly. Originally Posted by Rogue General Ah, thanks for the clarification. Another question: What about the purple/blue regions that don't have the big white circle in it? I had an idea about players being able to deploy space mines in them so that any fleets that entered the sector had a chance to be damaged. But it was getting complicated so I dropped it. I could adopt some rules from my other game, World Wars, where space sectors can be “owned.” In WWs a player who has the most fleets in a sea zone owned the sea zone. This allowed that player to move armies instantly across the sea zone without transporting them on a regular fleet. Maybe I should adopt those rules? If you owned the space sectors between two star systems, you could move your army instantly between them without transporting them on fleets. It would require a move that is rolled for. Wow, I better think about this and draft some rules. Rogue, you are once again a genius! Cheers! Cats PS: ooh… now I can add warp-lanes and jump-gates to the game! This is gonna be gooood. Changes will be announced in the Rules thread.
Ugh, I don't really care anymore, Lenin can have the red. If Ivan changes his color then change mine back to gold, if not change it to dark blue (Blue:155 Red:0 Green:0) or something along that line.
I really don't want to screw around with colours anymore either. So I'm hoping Lenin Cat will just calm down and be happy, or pick a unique colour.
This game is so confusing, yet fun anyway that you'll still be explaining the rules to us even when it's over. Truly a mysterious deep space game.
I hope not! But that is one of the reasons why I'm doing 48 hour turns; to give players time to read and understand the rules. I could easily do 24 hour turns with this game since I do not write any role-play in the End of Turn Results, but this is a new game and I want people to understand it first. Is there anything specific you're confused on that I can help you with? Cats
I'm happy to start again from the start. I will be better off having a bit more space compared to 1 build point.
Yay! Spartan is using the role-play thread! Excellent battle, though the game begins in 2500 and you put 2504. Was that on purpose? Cheers! Cats
Starcraft 2 says 2504 AD, I'll add something along the line: Say the Protoss calendar is four years ahead or something.
Nobody is complaining about the End of Turn Results format, so I guess it's good? Not too confusing? The music will be changed every 10 turns by the way since I have found a lot of cool pieces of "space music." Cheers! Cats
Yahoo! My team totally won the Super Bowl! Those Broncos were completely pwned by the Sea Hawks! Awesome! Anyway... why is it dead in here lately? I really need High Fist to respond to my ambassador. I have plans...
Can't believe I stayed up all night to watch that, what a boring one-sided game.
