what was the state of Hinduism during the Mughal Empire?
Well there is come controversy on this issue Babur and Humayun although quite "tipsy" most of the time prided themselves in their conquest of the "infidels" of India and supposedly demolishing a large Hindu temple in Ayodhya and built a mosque in its place known as Babir Masjid, which was destroyed by the BJP in the 1990s.Akbar and Jahangir abandoned this viewpoint which is evidence by their abandonment of the poll-tax/jizya on non-Muslims.Shah Jahan however began to persecute Hindus by forbidding the repair of their temples, Aurangzeb was the culmination of this and was openly anti-Hindu,he destroyed their temples and imposed jizya once again.

the Mughal Empire had undergone fragmentation after Aurangzeb's death and regional armies began to emerge in former Mughal provinces.The Marathas were able to use this to expand their power and of course Nadir Shah's invasion of India proved to be an enormous disaster for the Mughals and the fragmentation of the Mughal Empire was more rapid afterwards and the British were able to conquer Bengal and expand west
