The graceful Czarina regards the Turkish diplomat with a regal eye. This man was a muslim, an enemy to her Christian Czardom... but what did that matter? She had long ago decided religions would play no part in Narakotan politics. She gestures and servants carry over platter containing fine grapes, white bread, pieces of fish and red wine. 'Please, eat and drink noble diplomat, I daresay the journey was not a pleasant one. Afterwards we may discuss the trivialities of politics.'
Jean de Beauvais and his diplomatic entourage arrive in the Narakotan capital, after a long, tiresome journey via the Black and Mediterranean seas. Upon entering the so called 'golden city', they attempt to gain an audience with Czar Jacius.
Czarina Horlaria, at the head of her retinue, greets the Frenchmen at the top of the sweeping steps leading into the palace. 'Welcome to Duavene good sirs. Please allow our city to be your host and provide you with what you need. Now... what brings you to our lands in the first place? I am afraid that my husband the Czar is unavailable at the moment as he away on military matters, but in his place I shall assist you in his place. Now, first let us offer you our hospitality.' She gestures an arm subtly forward and several servants approach the Frenchmen where they take their horses to the stables where they will be cleaned, brushed and given fresh hay. 'I daresay you are tired from you journey. My people will offer you refreshments in the palace, then we can discuss the reason for your visit. Does that please you good sirs?'
"Your hospitality is most appreciated, your grace." The entourage shadows Horlaria into the palace, whilst some of the servants wait outside with the horses. They happily consume all the refreshments offered by the Narakotans, for they have been without proper food for many months. Finally, Jean opens the negotiations with the Czarina. "I have been sent here, your majesty, by my lord and master, Benoit I, King of France. The destruction of the Ottoman Empire has left France without a trading partner to the east. Our people yearn for nothing more than exotic goods from the east, and we hope that the Czardom of Narakota can fill that void. We have plenty to offer in return, goods we are sure that your nation needs."
'We will accept your offer. Trade with the West has been lacking recently, as our agents have until today found no honourable trade partners, but now with our lands and so we hears yours too occupying coastal areas I daresay the first ships shall begin arriving in Marseille within the month,' the Czarina states. 'We accept your King's offer of trade!' Without needing to be told a clerk subtly pens the trade agreement. He gives the parchment to the Czarina, who presses the seal of the Czardom upon the document. She hands it back to the clerk who offers it to the French dignitaries. 'If you would sign here sir...'
Jean takes the pen from the clerk and scribbles his signature on the document. Passing the pen back to the clerk, he then clicks his fingers, and instantly 4 servants bring forth a crate each filled with goods. "We thank you for your acceptance, and as a token of appreciation, please accept these gifts, courtesy of the King of France himself".
'Thank you yourself for these gifts, you can be sure we will always remember the gesture despite what may happen in the future. Please do give our regards to your king as his generosity shall not go unrewarded. Unfortunately we do not have gifts of our own for you to take back the France, as your visit was quite... unexpected, but an extra large shipment of our finest goods will be sent.'
We eagerly await the first shipment of eastern goods. Again, we thank you for both accepting the trade agreement, and for your most generous hospitality, Czarina Horlaria. You are an honour to your people, your majesty." Jean and his dignitaries then bow before the Czarina, and exit the palace.
Duchess Arame of Gandhara arrives with a team of dignitaries and requests an audience with the Czarina. The servants accompanying the entourage are laden with exquisite gifts, all hallmarks of the East, not found in these parts of the world.....
The Czarina, having just retired to her room for the evening, is both surprised and truthfully annoyed at being interrupted again. 'It's dignitaries from Gandhara, my lady. The Duchess Arame requests your presence,' her faithful clerk announced. 'What, is it Everyone Visit Duavene day' the Czarina groaned. Nonetheless she made her way to the reception hall of the palace, silently followed by the normal entourage of servants, clerks, scribes and cloaked bodyguards. 'Welcome, welcome! Please, take a seat, relax.' Fortunately the feast given to the French dignitaries is still mostly intact; those dishes already touched are subtly discarded and fresh ones laid out. Normally the Czarina would never ever dream of giving honourable visitors such an hurried welcome, but the timing of the Gandharans arrival had taken her off guard; she was willing to be they and the Frenchmen had travelled together to Narakota if they didn't hail from completely separate lands.
The Duchess heartily thanks the Czarina, and offers her sincere apologies for disturbing her. "We wish to offer trade rights, and any other demands besides. Please feel free to discuss your terms with us and also whether you would like to have any other kind of arrangement or relations with us."
'We are never ones to say no to extra income and goods for our people. We accept your offer,' the Czarina says. Her faithful scribe steps forward untold, furiously scribbling down the details of the trade agreement. OOC: Sorry to roleplay is kinda lame at the moment, I'll do more of it when I can.
The Duchess expresses thanks on behalf of the Queen.
Spiridion Lusi, chief diplomat of Friedrich, King of Prussia, wishes an audience with her Grace, the Czarina, to discuss the partition of the territory we both seem to wish to occupy.
The Czarina accepts the Prussian envoys into the palace. 'Welcome gentlemen. It is certainly imperative that we establish a common border between our lands. What would you propose?'
The King of Prussia proposes a line of demarcation. You are free to occupy everything to the east and Prussia everything to the west. Hmm. Apparently I can't upload an image?
Here is our own proposal. As you see the Crimea is evenly split between Prussian and Narakotan spheres of influence. It will be neccessary in this scenario for Prussia to exchange a region.
On behalf of the King of Prussia, I, Spiridion Lusi, agree to the division. How shall we conduct the region exchange?
