@bradavies You underestimate the bravery and valor of Ottoman soldiers, friend @WC The link doesn't work
@bradavies: yes it's to the EWIV Role-Play thread, which was awesome. The link works perfectly fine for me. How exactly does it not work? A message pops up saying error or something? WC
Invalid Group Discussion specified. Check that the URL is correct. If it seems to be, the resource you requested probably no longer exists, and links pointing to it should be deleted or updated. But yea, that thread was pretty awesome, even in the short time I was there. I know I've already promised to do something on the RP thread, but I definitely want to host a jousting tournament. It works even better since I'm France, the greatest jousters in all of Europe. My only worry is that with all the wars going on/about to go on, people might boycott.
That's a great idea to have a medieval tournament in this game. And since Paris is the latest of the greatest cities to arise, it makes sense. Here's the link to the old jousting tournament thread for the EWIV game in case no one knows what the heck me and bradavies are talking about: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...%28Finished%29 . I would fully support bradavies being the host (game master) of it. Speaking of wars... wow… the Italian war between Rome and Genoa turned into a bunch of ambushes. If this was a real war I wonder how many men they have left now? As for the link to old role-play thread... I have no idea what to do. The URL has to be correct since it works for me. I don't know. I'll redo it.
If this was a real war between Rome and Genoa then Rome would probably be crushed as Genoa have 1000 years more advanced technology And yea, I'd happily host the tournament as long as someone rolls for me of course (I'm not missing out on my own tournament). And about the old thread, it's not just the RP thread that's inaccessible, the entire group comes up with the same message. Don't know why at all. All I can think of is that it's because I left the group.
30,000 Genoese men vs 450,000 Romans. A medieval army with medieval system of running it, vs a superbly organized army with clear hierarchy and flexible tactics. A rich civilization that adopted plate armour and mastered the crossbow, vs an even richer civilization that invented plate armour, has the whole army equipped with it (except the Auxilliaries). And again, 30,000 vs 450,000. Well...what do you expect? By the way, Romans never ambush. They do have a history of falling in ambushes all around here and there, though.
Because the current Rome you own can clearly muster 450,000 men...
People, a faction, whether or not in it's full might in the game, is considered to be representing the full part. Scotland in the game might own, for example, only one province. But the player has full right to depict it as if it is wholly united. And what I did there was to depict armies of both nations in their peak times - when Genoa held Sardinia and Corsica, Lombardia, Aegean islands and Crimea; when Rome held all of Europe west and south of the Rhine, and 75% of the known world to them. That is why, number of provinces doesn't matter. Cynical comments on 'current state of faction' should not be there.
Hey, guess what? Your factions don't have to be based off of real history! They do need to be realistic though... @bradavies: I'll gladly roll for you as long as I'm allowed to join. Guess who my character will be if I join. Also, when you get it set it up, can you give me the link to it? Thanks. WC
Your character will be named Zachary of course.
@Warrior cat so we can as example take Gondor from LOTR?
REAListic, Gondor is a made up place.
@General Maximus: no… what makes you say that? I actually meant “Guess where my character will come from.” @bradavies: Gondor may be a made up place, but it is realistic. Its enemies (Mordor) may be unrealistic (huge flaming eye commanding creatures that do not exist), but Gondor itself is based off of the Byzantine Empire and therefore based off reality. I mean your Kingdom of France is the same thing; it based off of reality but is made up. I would love it if a Gondor or Rohan popped up in my game! @Attalus Soter: your character will come from the Kingdom of Jerusalem since that is what you are playing in EWVI, and this jousting competition is an off-shoot of this game. Other people (like me) may join this jousting competition as “master-less knights."
Should I create a new thread for the Jousting tournament or do it on the group?
Create a new thread in the Coliseum sub-forum like Twilight/L-Burna did. That way other people who are not players of EWVI can join as "master-less knights." Can't wait to join. Cheers! WC
Would you mind if I sent an Ala Imperatoria instead of a knight as a jouster? I mean, Roman cavalry were skilled with lance as well.

@WC Yea that makes more sense, I'll do it in the sub-forum then. @Maximus As long as they are mounted on a horse and use a lance I don't mind who you send
Just reread my own post, and now I feel like a total ass... didn't mean to word my comment so strongly . Thank God you finally realized that. By the way, I still don't know who that popcorn guy is. Satirist and comedian as you guys put it, probably. Never heard of him before.
