    HISTORY
The founding of Rome is clad in myths, but evidence dictates that it has been founded by Aeneas, who was fleeing from Troy along with many other people. It was seven villages on seven hills that constantly warred with each other until Romulus and Remus, the former being the first King of Rome and united the seven villages into a single city named on his honour.

After some kings, who turned out to be Etruscan tyrants, the Romans revolted against them and formed a Republic. This new government was also rampant with corruption and bribery. Romans again suffered, and then revolted against them and chose Gaius Octavius, a great-nephew and then adopted heir of the greatest Roman general in history, Gaius Julius Caesar, to be the new Imperator and gave him the titles of Caesar and Augustus.

An impressive entourage reaches the gates of the Imperial Palace. Surrounded by servants bearing priceless presents, the head of the delegation introduces himself as Chandragupta, a distinguished nobleman from the Court of Queen Arachidameia VI Soteira, Queen of Gandhara. He requests an audience with the Emperor of the Romans, to open up trade relations with his kingdom, and if possible, an alliance.
  3. General Maximus

A group of courtiers come out from the huge iron gates of the Imperial Palace. They greet the entourage and politely ask them to accompany them to the Imperial Council Chamber, where they can propose the diplomatic treaties.

He takes them inside the palace, through the gold-laden walls of extremely rich corridors, full of fine sculptures and marble luxuries. The palace was sprawling and a standing wonder of Roman architecture. They come to a large door of gold which is opened for them. Inside is the Imperial Council Chamber, where all the ministers and Senators are sitting.
His Imperial Majesty Himself was, unfortunately, away on a state-tour to Portus Pisanus.

The Senators rise up and the Consul, Flavius Maxentius, says with a friendly smile: "
Welcome to the Eternal City of Seven Hills! We are pleased to see you. What do you wish to propose?"
  4. NobleWoman

The nobleman executes a quick bow, and answers, "We are most honoured by your most gracious welcome. We propose trade and diplomatic relations. You can let us know the articles for trade as well as your terms for diplomatic relations. Also if possible, we would like to ally with you". So saying, he accepts his designated seat. Following him, his entourage does the same.
  5. General Maximus

The Consul, after thinking for some time, speaks: "We agree to a charter of trading agreement between us. As for an alliance, we request some time to reconsider and consult His Imperial Majesty. Meanwhile, can you tell us what goods your people are trading in?"

Our Majesty sens an diplomat in order for trade agreements?
    What's your answer?
  7. NobleWoman

"We trade in horses, elephants, spices, dry fruits, and exquisite handicrafts, semi-precious and precious stones besides purple dye." replies Chandragupta. "Does any of this interest you?"
  8. General Maximus
    General Maximus
"Yes, we do have a large demand for spices and things from the east, along with the purple dye. For Rome, we trade in precious marble, fine wine and elixirs, iron, exotic fruits and much more. We also have a bustling market for slaves, mostly barbarians defeated in battle but also traded ones. Do these goods work for you?" Says the Consul.

He then turns to the unnamed ambassador who just came in, and says: "
Fine, we agree, trading between our nations shall commence. But what nation do you represent, ambassador?" A seat is offered to him.

@Attalus: I agree to trade agreement as well.

    You are very welcomed.

"Of course!" smiles Chandragupta."But we will require some very good gladiators too! Can you arrange that as well? We are ready to buy these slaves." He smiles benignly again, and looks to the Consul.
"So what are the terms of agreement?"
  11. General Maximus
    General Maximus
"Of course, we will sell you slaves and gladiators as well." The Consul chuckles, and then speaks - "In return, we wish to purchase some exotic animals from the east for our gladiator tournaments and amphitheater fights."

Then he speaks in a more serious tone - "
The terms of the agreement are that for now, trade will continue by land. Once you gain access to a port, the trade will begin by sea. Every month till then, a ship full of slaves will arrive at the shores of Black Sea and the merchants and slaves will then continue to Gandhara by the roads. The rest of the trade will take place exclusively by the Silk Road for now. We agree on the pact on our side. Would this system be fine with you?"
  12. NobleWoman
    NobleWoman
"Absolutely", says Chandragupta. "We agree to your terms. We are most honoured to have you as a our trading partner."
  13. General Maximus
    General Maximus
"And it is the same for us, we are glad that this agreement worked out." Consul smiles. Then he says - "About our alliance, I will inform His Imperial Majesty the Caesar once He returns to Rome. I think He will keep off any notion of alliances until Italy is secure."

A bearded Dacian appears and says:
Mighty Romans! We will offer our friendship and metals if you promise peace and justice!
We warmly ask you to retreat your claims over Dacia (historically, they didn't have a quarter of the provinces in Dacia you want).
Also, we would want some fine trade too! What do you say ?
  15. General Maximus
    General Maximus
A senator, supported by a few others, boldly stands up and raises the question, after hearing the barbarian: "Trading is fine, but why do you think we should withdraw to the territory south of Danubius, along with our de-jure territorial claims?"
  16. NobleWoman
    NobleWoman
"Glad to hear it. We shall surely await His Imperial Majesty's response" Chandragupta replies with a satisfied smile.

    Let's just speak about trade...

"We agree for the trade agreement for now." Says the Consul, and orders a scribe to write down another trade agreement record on a papyrus.
