Megadeth... Auckland 2009 So this morning Im hurting.... Got a tender well everything, and Im dog tired and still slightly drunk and sitting at my desk at work. Luckily my boss is pretty sweet and is just taking the piss.... Last night I went to Megadeth at the Logan Campbell Centre here in Auckland New Zealand.... Was pretty awesome all round, arrived to see I think it was Machine Head exiting the stage so wasnt standing around for ages which is always a bonus at a GA gig.... Just me my brother and a couple of mates this time round, most of my friends are pretty poor at the moment so are missing great shows... Shame on them... Good views alround, gotta love the little mini skirts and black fishnets you see on some of the hot metla chicks at these shows, and some good boobies too... lol. Ok so was talking to some drunk Megadeth fans as we waiting, was discussing with one dude that I dont think they should put reverb on the guitars in small indoor venues like these as the hall naturally reverbs and with the reverb on the reverb it can get rather muddled especially with fast intricate riffs etc... He agreed lol... So anyway where was I.... So Mr Drover came on stage first sneaking onto his drums in the background and let out a little fill before standing up as the crowd went balistic.... Followed by Mr Lomenzo and Mr Broderick and of course Dave came on last lol... They just straight off ripped into the cupcake song (Set The World Afire) was pretty sweet, got my blood pumping and we charged forward as you do in the first song, got pretty intense up at the front, the sound was a bit messy for the first few songs which sucked cause they played Hanger 18 next (one of my favourites), but the sound tech's got it down sweet as the gig wore on.... Kinda forgot the order of the songs, but Im pretty sure they played Wake Up dead next.... I pulled back out to a more comfortable area and got my air guitar plugged in lol..... So was thrashing away following the riffs with my hands, some people were like WTF but hey screw them I dont care, I can play most of their songs so at least my air guitar wasnt fully wack.... So in some order I cant recollect they played: Sympothy Of Destruction (Love this song, simple but awesome at the same time) Devils Island (which I wasnt expecting but was still cool) Sleepwalker (not one of my favourites but sounds much better live) Rattlehead (another one I dont like, but was awesome live... loved it) Skin O my Teeth (This was awesome, fully air guitared and got my groove on in this one.... Mean as) Sweeting Bullets (Awesome to hear the crowd singing the verses so well...) She-Wolf (Possible my new favourite song after remember it existed... Played awesomely, however I hoped they would do an extended version but they didnt sadly) Tornado of Souls (Wasnt expecting this, and would be one of my top 3 Megadeth songs, so I was happy....) The only new song they played was Head Crusher, which was better live than on the album... Peace Sells (Another awesome song done brilliantly, everyone singing along) I think thats it, must be forgetting something.. Oh they came back for an Encore with Holy Wars, which was a killer end to the show, I went back into the pit got pretty wasted.... They finished that up and started throwing their stuff.... I caught a pick from Brod and Lomenzo... Was guttered that Dave didnt throw my direction... Funny story this dude next to me was like "Hey you got two picks" and I was like "Nah man its on the floor over there" and then fully bailed before they all ganged up on me lol.... So anyway was pretty sweet..... Waited a bit for Slayer but havent been a real fan since I was like 14 lol, they started their first song which I didnt recognize and we decided to bail... So all in all, very awesome night lol.
