I make it a priority of mine to wear a suit whenever I leave the house. Be it a fine, thick frock coat for the winter or a light jacket for summer, I think it very unseemly to walk about in one's vest or t-shirt. Oh, and I always wear a vest.

How do you express your gentlemanliness?

    Let’s make a “Gentleman’s Code”

Rules and regulations how we should behave and act here on TWC.

What do you think about that?

I agree with this, my friend! We must not be too silly about it, for the Duffers have taken the lead in being over-the-top gentlemen. Obviously, the code must be one of complete respect, good spelling, and good manners at all times. We must refrain from speaking about sexual matters, or anything that is so controversial it might case flame wars. We are gentlemen, traditionalists, and top-hatters; everything must mesh together.

I still open doors for ladies, and take off a hat before talking to someone.

Oh, bravo. I never see any man take his hat off!

I've never worn a monocle, but I have always wanted to.

I express my gentlemenliness on a high school-accepted way...for now

I allways wear a vest (in the meaning of a decent stylish thin coat) when I go out to theatre or such thing with school, though there are a lot of guys who look strange. If it gets a bit more shique, I tend to wear my great-grandfathers waistcoat. And ofc, I allways wear a shawl in tie-style when it gets colder. I'm planning on buying my first suit when I enter uni.

What ho, all! Nice to have a group where one can express one's gentlemanly qualities. As you can probably see, I am something of a newb, so I'm just finding my way round the place. What with this place and the Duffers, one ought to be well away!

Is there actually much of a difference between the two?

Anyway, orf with my three-piece to beat up some political opponents now. Toodle-pip,

Its all about the waistcoat... Without a good waistcoat your suit will fail.

I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Darling.

This place is quite different from the Duffers, for although some of us may exhibit haughty and stuck-up attitudes, they are not a requirement. A gentleman is a gentleman is a gentleman, gentlemen! We do not discriminate against lower-class men who wish to act gentlemanly, even if they are poor and speak in a common accent. All men who wish to uphold the virtues of loyalty, honesty in all circumstances, holding doors for women, standing for women and strangers, and acting all-'round very old-fashioned, is welcome here. The primary difference between we and the Duffers is that they mandate quasi-Victorian behavior; we do not, although I personally practice it.

I see. And you're quite right, Major, a three-piece is essential. I for one always make a point of wearing a weskit.

Alo! Not always a gentleman in speech or in garb, but I definitely try to be one in deed.

I'm just curious, Monarchist, I admire and support your willingness to wear frock coats and suit coats in public, especially in an age in which most people underdress... i.e. t-shirts, shorts, cheap hats, but how exactly do you deal with potential self-esteem problems, such as people starring at you all the time? Are there any folks that come across as rude while out in the attire? I personally would love to wear classic suits, such as a traditional frock coat and jacket, but it would feel awkward after a while. I suppose it takes a good getting-used to, as anything. I think tomorrow I'll wear a dress shirt, dress pants, and my brown tweed sports coat to school. I plan on wearing that more often, although lately I've been wearing ties more as well, if even plain with a dress shirt.

I've definitely passed the t-shirt and shorts phase, and that's not a look I would catch myself in anytime soon, unless maybe at night while sleeping.

I do believe there is a profound philosophy, that is along the lines that clothes do not make a gentleman, but the interior does, what is inside a person mentally/spiritually/morally and so on.

Oh, and not sure about the rest of you all here (Monarchist told me that he doesn't do this often), but I've been known to wear a dress hat, a fedora or a traditional Panama hat, quite often, in public places especially, such as college (I always take off my hat when entering the classroom as a sign of respect, and the same rule applies to church, as well as private residences, and even my own home, though I sometimes wear one in my own room), the streets, grocery stores, etc... Eventually in my life, I hope to acquire an authentic beaver or silk top hat, for some of the most formal occasions, although personally, a homburg would fill this role just about as well, as it is considered formal.

Well, I wore a suit today, and I think I carried it off fine, even in an environment in which 80% to 90% of the school population is underdressed (t-shirts, shorts, sandals mostly). It will still take some getting used to, I suppose, but I enjoy wearing the more refined clothing.

Well, I don't wear a suit that often. Main reason being that I'm usually wearing work pants that are covered in dirt. But when I go out on a special occasion I'll dress neatly.
I'll always hold the door open for people (If my Dad doesn't beat me to it) And I'll often raise my cheap Akubra substitute at a person walking by

I always try to act like a gentleman at all times

I generally don't wear a suit. Just some nice pants, a button down shirt, dress jacket, and my bowler.
