Piety and prestige.

    Each character starts with 5 points in piety and prestige.

    The way to gain piety and prestige is by holding a landed title, converting your populace, constructing churches and the like.


    Ways to gain piety points:

    Build a church. +1 piety reward.

    Build a chapel. +1 piety reward

    Build an Abbey. +2 piety reward

    Build a cathedral. +4 piety reward

    Build a grand cathedral. +5 piety reward.

    Convert your populace to 10% Catholicism. +1 piety

    Convert your populace to 30% Catholicism. +2 piety.

    Convert your populace to 50% Catholicism. +3 piety.

    Convert your populace to 100% Catholicism. +5 piety.

    Win a holy war. +3 piety.

    Take part in a crusade. +3 piety.

    Capture a holy relic. +5 piety.

    Be excommunicated by the pope. -5 piety

    Lose a holy war. -3 piety.

    Allow a heretical uprising in your province to go unanswered for a year. -3 piety.

    Allow heresy to take root in any of your provinces (happens when catholic conversion levels slip too low). -3 piety.

    Catholicism disappears from your province. -5 piety.




    Piety points offer a varied amount of perks for your character, the higher the piety, the better the perk. However, you suffer if you have negative piety.
