And the polish army back then was sorta interesting. It wasnt just a straight levy. Like you had the crown army, which had two parts, the Foreign Armament and the native armament. The foreign armament would have alot of infantry and professional artillery that the poles couldnt raise themslves. Like german pikemen and gunners and Highland scottish assault infantry. Then the native crown army would consist of the traditional polish troops I.E. Winged Hussars, Dragoons, medium calvary etc etc
Then you had various ethnic minorities taht lived in Poland and owed military service to the crown in exchange for land and living unmolested. Like the Cossacks are a very big example, like on the borders facing Ukraine and the ottoman empire the cossacks formed a large proportion of the Hetmante(regional miltary commands) armies. Also, in Lithuania and the south there was a decent sized population of Islamic tatars who served the Polish Crown
After that, you had the private troops of the major landowners who would get some pay from the crown and they would always be off doing things like invading muscovy, serving as mercenaries etc etc(this is where your black army type troops would fit in)
Finally you had the general levy of all noblemen. This was only done across the country in a national emergency and consisted of traditional polish troops. The levies from the middle of the country were of questionable quality, but the levies of border regions like Ukraine, Prussia, and the parts of Ruthenia and Lithuania that border Russia were quite efficient fighting forces
