That's just not a philosophical question, merely a philosophical image like Buridan's, concluding only one thing : whatever you choose keeps you alive, whereas not choosing is being (already) dead. Your question sounds just like those childish questions "Who would you save? Your mother? Your wife? Or your daughter?"
And time has several definitions, you only give the linear, teleological, version. Cyclic time is also very vivd for many people and one could easily argue and add to your "River" image, saying the river flows into the sea, the sea evaporates, makes clouds, clouds rain on the mountains, form snow and sources and sping the same or another river.... And on and on and on again...

It was just a question, you do not have to destroy it like that, man. Keep your insults of other people's questions for yourself.

No, I "insult" other people's questions as much as I want dude, your question is strictly stupid. Want me to repeat that?
Nothing wrong with that, I'm just saying, so you can either read what else I wrote or just continue being obfuscated because I "insulted" your question. A great deal of philosophy is asking questions - a whole philosophical process is just that - , but not any questions, asking the right questions, which can make thought and acts blossom, not just an absurd abstract situation of do or die, thus a "philosophical question" is not just a question you can't answer by its sheer absurdity, it's a trampoline from which thought jumps to higher grounds.

Is this the only thing that you do? Wait for people to post stupid things, and then insult them? Good luck with that, dude.

Enough of this, let us bury our axe of war, and have peace once more.
I admit the stupidity of my question, and let us move on.

And what did you think of that article on Maieutics?

Only ask meaningful questions, Socrates' thinking, I got it already.

That must be why so few post here. I imagine they are slowly formulating their thoughts so that they won't be embarrassed; so that when they post everyone will be impressed by their logic and reasoning. Unfortunately I don't think this group is on that level and so we must start out with the childish questions first so as to learn from them and thereby advance to the next level.

Thanks for the save there Armatus

But when someone impresses everyone the first time, it can still be undone the next time they speak.

    That is definitely true.

I just want to see how much everyone knows or has heard about it without wiki or the dictionary.

This is annoying me because I've heard of the name, and I'm pretty sure I used to know a decent bit about it, but I've completely forgotten what it is. A quick glance at wikipedia has rekindled no memory in the subject.

Well I just find it interesting in relation to using this internet forum, obviously my life itself could be all just figment of someone else's imagination or even my own. But look at how we operate on this forum, very indirectly as if in a dream I post you post and ideas exchange, but do they really?

I'm not doing very good at describing the correlation, but for an instant it seemed interesting.

All in all, I'm not sure what real purpose this philosophy served other than giving some without power a way to protest against anything they didn't like. That's extremely over simplifying it I know.

And what about you Taneda Santôka? will you care to enlighten us some more? This group is a little slow to live up to it's name

I have thoughts all day long but they're always at work and I forget by the time I get back here to write them down, plus some of them aren't worth posting as they're just musings to my own views.

That's for sure every time I come up with something revolutionary it fades away by the time I have a pen in my hand. Maybe I'll start carrying around a pocket recorder ...heh.

Alright then, so has there been any special philosophy that you hold dear? anything you try to live your life by or utilize? A particular pastern of logic or thinking? for personal fulfillment or advantage?
