    For Angband.

    - Orcs are in large numbers, and otherwise, elf-fodder. Also the backbone of armies
    - Trolls - Inundate armies with these brutes.
    - Balrogs are fire demons, and a step down from dragons. Strongest troop to be recruited.

If you're looking for suggestions race founder elite bodyguards composed of a small unit of whatever race they founded. Some cavalry would be needed I would think though I'm not sure. Ranged units too.
  3. Pyrrhus the Molossian

Balrogs are Maer and pretty BA. No one should take them lightly. Gandalf died fighting one, Durin's Bane.

I believe that Balrog was an oversized one.
These ones will be essentially fire-trolls.

I'm only doing basic units right now.
I will get to special stuff like bodyguards way later.
  5. Pyrrhus the Molossian
    Pyrrhus the Molossian
In Tolkien's later conception, they could not be casually destroyed—significant power was required. Only dragons rivalled their capacity for ferocity and destruction,[2] and during the First Age of Middle-earth, they were among the most feared of Morgoth's forces.
Lol Maer are not fire trolls mate. They take ALOT to kill them. Only their physical forms could be destroyed.
  6. Pyrrhus the Molossian

They seem to get stronger the in Tolkien's later works though. They were always fire demons though, huge very very hard to kill fire demons.

Yes, but they will be toned down. If you look at the descriptions of Morgoth's armies, its not consistent with their supposed strength.
  8. Pyrrhus the Molossian

I read that. He seems to have added to there strength in later works. P

balrogs are stronger now than in the future, Durins bane is an exception however, almost as powerful as Gothmog. Balrogs were maiar.
  17. Feanaro Curufinwe

There were supposed to be 12 Balrogs at most. All of them should be Generals.

    I have some names.

Gothmog: Lord of Balrogs and Captain of the Hosts of Angband.Used an axe in addition to his fiery whip.
Lungorthin: A Balrog referenced in the History of Middle Earth, described as being wreathed in white flames.
  18. Feanaro Curufinwe

Trolls should not fight at day, unless they are under a very smoky sky. They should turn to stone when they breach this rule. There were also more than 70 Trolls in Gothmog's bodyguard. Trololololol!

Cold-Drakes: Wingless Dragons of Angband which do not breath fire, but instead have to rely on their size and jaws. Should be divided in: Brood, Adults and Great Cold Drakes.
Brood of Glaurung: Wingless fire breathing Dragons of far greater size and strength than Cold Drakes.Divided in: Newborn, Fire Drakes and Great Worms.
Brood of Ancalagon: The last, and greatest of Morgoth's Dragons, Winged, immense and towering over their ancestors.Named for Ancalagon the Black, a Dragon so immense that in his death throes, shattered the Thangorodrim.Another famous Dragon of his breed was Smaug.
