    NOTE: the whole unit selection is still a major work in progress. I am more or less attempting to get the game set up so i can then focus on the many scripts required to mesh all the 'game-ideas' together. Most of the units will require re-skinning or whatever it is that needs to be done to all factions to use the unit and not have silver surfer syndrome. As i have never worked with units i don't know how hard or easy that is to do. I am sure it is pretty straight forward though. - DONE

    The Area of Recruitment (AoR) will be detailed in the sense that it will work alongside the trade and supply script, specific events and quest-lines, the strategic resource placement and ownership, along with regional recruitment for each faction type (Norman, Saxon, Wales, Scottish). Note that some units will only be available to specific factions regardless of ownership of the region (Highland Nobles for example).

    Good stuff, do you requires additional information about historical units? Certain ones were fictional but I can't say about Ivanhoe.

    I would prefer historical units. But i dont have a modeler or skinner so cant make new units. So i was just planning on using vanilla/kingdoms units. The original DotC only had 4 units (Soldiers, Knights, Archers or Catapult). I more or less just want to give some variety for the factions. The story is fictional, but it is based on history. The more historical accurate i can be just makes the whole story more believable.

    There are only certain units from ivanhoe used, which ive added descriptions about and why i added them, such as the saracen militia.

    Been doing some thinking on the whole general_unit attribute. Originally i wanted every unit in the game to be a general unit to create a more 'role-play' environment through the proposed Bailiffs/Sheriffs/Stewards and Castelan trait system. After some thought i am not so sure. I am leaning towards only elite unit types (as per the first post) would be general capable. In addition id like to look into the whole captain being promoted to general thing and see if that can somehow be modded...

    I am rewriting the entire unit list and setting it up with the battle_models.modeldb so that all units will have textures (no silver surfer syndrome). Once this has been completed it will be easier for anyone we find to edit the skins as everything needed will be in the right folder for editing. I am redoing the entire unit list and rethinking which units to use.

    I have set Saxon up with Barons Alliance skins and Normans with English skins. Where one or the other is unavailable i have used either/or/slave skins. Wales skins for the 2 Welsh factions, Scotland skins for Scotland. We can change the skins as per faction at a later date, but this way it will be set up and playable with no silver surfers. Will be perfect for a beta release anyway...

    I will update the first post with this information once i have completed the following...

    Will update this list as i add each unit to the EDU and modeldb. Once completed ill upload the mod folder as v0.3.

    A note about the unit availability. Wales will have the best Archers, Scotland will have the best Spear/Pike, Normans will have the best Cavalry, King Richard will have a bit of everything. which leaves the player factions, the Saxons, who will not have the best of anything but instead rely on controlling key areas to dominate game-play. Such as setting up trade networks to gain access to other factions units.
