I like Nile, Death, Cryptopsy, Metallica, Slayer, Finntroll, Eminem, The Clash, Avril Lavigne, Paramore, Venom and N Dubz.
I agree with this point of view overall. And I listen to many differend styles, mostly subgenres of rock though. However in many genres the musicians are more likely to be there just to make money or to end there later (sellout or whatever). And even when i try to forget that, and just care about how it sounds, that comercialy directed music seems catchier at first but gets boring a lot faster.
Definitely, it all sounds the same, take Green Day as an example
