if you manage to pull this one through, you shall be remembered for ages
Well I already played a test-run from EB through various other mods like IB and SV untill 1500. So I have already a sense of what I am actually doing.
I remember seeing some similar ideas before. There was a rather good Rome / Medieval I AAR, and Kallum tried to do something similar once (but it wasn't continunuos, just a collection of different ages), but that AAR seemed to disappear. But yeah, my advice to you is to make sure you have the dedication to see it through if you really do want to attempt it.
loool, totally forgot about my professor Kallum AAR Damn, and just as I thought that I had a golden reputation of never leaving my projects unfinished A shame that I can't continue it, bugs are killing my RTW and it's mods
I'm defo not rushing things. I will start playing the RoP mod and take notes and screenshots. I already have the basic idea how it will be written. I'll take each chapter as a fictional historian source. Sometimes a diplomat or a family member or a fiction person will write about it. This way each chapter will be written differently, the FM may try to defend his conquests of lands, while the fictional aristrocat will have nothing good to say about that FM. This way the reader will be able to interprete the texts. Sometimes the fictional historian will talk more about the "sex aifairs" of the king and maybe tell humors things, while another historian takes it seriously and gives a detailed account on an important battle. It's all gonna be point of view. And I am fully aware that pulling this through might be tough. I'll take my time and read through a couple of eixisting AARs to get a clear sense of what I need to have in mind with such a mega-AAR. I'll write the first chapters in private and only if I see that I am actually able to pull it through, then I will make em public.
Just completed my second AAR. It really gives you a sense of satisfaction, knowing you stuck it out to the end. Now that is two completed AARs. I'll try for a third in a month or so. I want to get a decent way into my campaign, make a few drafts, really get a good start on this next one.
Hi all!I haven't done an AAR yet but I plan to in the summer. It will be about a Galatian...... I have done an ancient weapons guide though! Its... in the historical discussion forum.
Oh my, can an AARtist resist the writing bug for long? Not me anyway. I've already started on my next story, and I have decided it is going to be a Kingdom of Jerusalem one. In an unplanned twist, I certainly did not intend for it until after I had posted my last ASL update, it is going to be a sequel, but one set a hundred years or so after ASL. I am writing the bridging portion now, and it should be up for tomorrow evening. I will take my time, however, with the updates, so you may have to wait a while for the first proper portion of the story. Now all I need is a title (hint, hint).
congratz on completing your last AAR it was a fine read
I'm about to start writing my first AAR today. It's going to be about Norway's rise into a Nordic Empire ( Stainless Steel 6.1 ). Wish me luck!
good luck
So I started with my mamoth AAR. Everything is new too me and I still have to get more experience about what I am doing. But I think I'll get into it in time.
Oh man, I just discovered my very first AAR. It is trés terrible. Maybe after 'The Kingdom' I will return to this and rewrite it. Being from Ireland, it is obvious why I choose that faction, but now, with my gained experience of AAR writing, and my knowledge of Ireland, I think I might be able to turn it into something half decent. Anyone else ever done something like this, returning to an old AAR and rewriting it?
Yes, I am (very slowly) rewriting Juvenal's Journal (my EB Casse AAR) at the .ORG. There are also quite a few Tale of the Week entries I'd like to enhance. Have you noticed (or maybe it's just me) that anything you write is always best just after you wrote the last line, and seems to steadily deteriorate thereafter?
Have you noticed (or maybe it's just me) that anything you write is always best just after you wrote the last line, and seems to steadily deteriorate thereafter? Haha, yeah I know that. Better never read it again Sometimes, when I have a bit of time left, I rework old chapters in the file. I'm planning to post it some day as a .pdf. It also includes footnotes with translations, by the way. In my case the worst chapters aren't the oldest, but those that I posted half-ready due to my lazyness, just to get another one online without too much work.
Have you noticed (or maybe it's just me) that anything you write is always best just after you wrote the last line, and seems to steadily deteriorate thereafter? I couldn't agree with you more If I read back my old AARs (LotR and the first book and the beginning of BtR) then I just want to shoot myself, so bad that people ever gave me rep for that
I looked up my first two AAR's once, and I basically started laughing and breaking down into a deep depression at the same time. Damn, I SUCKED at writing an AAR. Also, new topic, since we don't have one, what do the members think of the ETW AAR's? Have they settled down, are there gems that have come to the surface, or have there only been brief explosions that die out and are eclipsed by the birth of new stars?
Editing the CQ, I have come into contact with a lot of AARs, both based on Empire campaigns, as well as the older games. I have certainly noticed an overall improvement in the quality of Empire AARs. The committed writers are still updating their own very good work, and some of the more established writers have begun migrating to the new game. While there are certainly duds, as there are in any AAR forum, it has settled down. The dedicated writers who began their careers with their Empire AARs are, thanks to their dedication, improving all the time, and this shows in the quality of their writing. Though there hasn't been a full blown migration from the older writers, I am sure that will come in time, once they have finished their current AARs, and begin to look for new inspiration, stories and scenarios. I have noticed a few new Staars (that, I think you will find, is how we spell it here) Heartfire, though his first AAR was a M2:TW one, is one of these, with his Center of Conflict 2 AAR really standing out. I am really pleased that I choose to review this, since I was a bit skeptical of his work, I did review his first AAR after all. Morinzil's UP AAR is also good, though he has not been active in the past few weeks. Yorkshireman and Pontifex's work are still the standout Empire AARs, though I am sure more will join them.
English would make it a tad easier to understand...though I can read German just fine, so no probs for me.
