Problem with name-changing is also that people will refer in their posts to your old name, and you will now have a new one. Which can be a hassle.
Hey Kallum is back. I was wondering where you had been for the past couple of weeks.
*drums* haha...
I'm best known as Kallum the AARtist not as Basileios Zacharias the new guy with a lot of rings/crowns and posts anyway shall we return to discuss about AARs instead of changing usernames?
Sure thing! I keep changing ideas, but never actually writing anything...bleh.
I have a notebook where I write down my ideas for AARs. Currently I have three ideas down, two, however, are central narrating characters. I might combine all three into a big summer project, with those characters merely as members of a wider cast. I had in mind separate factions for them, but I can easily resolve it. I am kind of annoyed that I hadn't thought of this earlier, as the two characters are quite different and would come into conflict with each other, making for a good AAR. Now, I just have to finish 'A Sicilian Life', which I have been on a hiatus from.
Hmmm. I'm on my first AAR, but I'm already swearing to myself that in any subsequent ones I will follow the rule of "No Screenshots" (except in the most dire of cases).
Well, I think I've hit a potentially fun idea. Very different from the usual aar. Though it will be very hard to do for me. I've been playing a lot of Viking Invasion II the last few days, and the Saxon Chronicles are frequently referenced to through ingame-events. So I was thinking on making a Chronicles/scroll, or perhaps make my first attempt at a poem, using this mod for screenshots. I'm also getting interested in adapting my screenshots in photoshop, so that might be a nice combination.
the ideas of you both does sound appealing wonder how it will be worked out, and btw fergu that's the reason why you shouldn't think of other ideas for your AAR whilst you are still busy with your current one
That sounds great, Selifator. I'd read it. Immersive AARs are few and far between, so fair play to you if you can create one.
I need to reinstall SS 6.0, but I don't want to lose my Sicilian save, for obvious reasons. I was looking through the files and folders, and can't find where the saves are... saved. I just need to back it up, so could someone point me in the correct direction please?
mine is "D:\Medieval\mods\Stainless_Steel_6\saves". But there should be a saves folder in your Stainless Steel folder.
Fergu, it really depends if you're using Vista or XP. In XP it's in the directory Antiochos says. If you're using Vista, it stores them in a hidden Virtual Store folder (I believe there's a hidden folder called AppData in your Documents, then it's something along the lines of Roaming > Virtual Store > Medieval...). Also of note, if you're using Vista and you disable UAC (User Account Control) in the Accounts panel, then it will stop using the Virtual Folder and revert back to XP's path. Ofcourse, this doesn't actually move your savegames from the virtual store folder, so you'd have to do that manually.
Thanks. I am using Vista, so that was what caused the trouble in finding them. The location (for anyone else) was: UserName --> App Data ---> Local ---> Virtual Store ---> Program Files ---> SEGA ---> M2:TW ---> Mods ---> Stainless Steel ---> Saves.
Okay, I want some topics to talk about. So I'll start with something : What are your proverbs? (AAR related) Mine is : Never give up on what you believe. (Meaning : Don't give up on the vision of your AAR. And don't make it end without a real ending.)
Hello. I'm totaly new here. And I have an AAR related question. I've been thinking about writing an AAR which covers from the persian empire to world war 2. I wanna use some mods from TW and some paradox games to play an alternative history. Now I have played from EB through the beginning of the modern times and I thought that I never made notes or screenshots. Which is a shame, because it adds a lot of contunity to look up who that awesome general was who conquered Anatolia in the 1st century BC. Now as it is know many AAR start right off and are hardly finished, so I thought I'm gonna make a different approch. I'll start to play a new, beginning with the Rise of persia mod, since it is one of the earliest mods timeline-wise. And the clou would be not to post an AAR until I have finished one or two mods. Now here comes the tricky part of my actuall question. Since I will cover many mods and even a different game (HoI, EUIII), where would be the place to put an AAR like this?
as TW games cover a major part of your AAR, put it in the AAR Competitions Forum, that's the best choice.
Hmm I'll take a look around there. I want to have one thread that covers the whole history from the beginning to the end. But I'm gonna take a slow approche. I don't want to start something I will never finish.
I'd say to either put in the main index or the Rome forum, as i'm assuming you'd effectivly start with Rome. But really, it doens't matter. Ones like yours sound are special cases that don't really fit into a particular subforum.
True that. I'll start there and see how things go. To get past the roman time peroid will take a lot of time anyway.
