I hope you are not contaminated with the evil minds of Nazguls.....
Pfft. Nazguls are no match for.... EOMER! Muhaha!
or Gimli
Aragorn
Pfft, Eomer, Beregond and Haldir are the kings of Middle-Earth.
*Uses random Giant Eagles as a plot device* Win. Spoiler Alert, click show to read: I always felt that was a bit of a random thing, at least in the films. Frodo & Sam are dying and then... RANDOM GIANT EAGLES AND GANDALF.
I felt it was cheap. Frodo and Sam had to die then the movie would've surely got a oscar or two more for Epic Ending
11 isn't enough? Just number 3 got 11... Come on... I honestly didn't want Sam to die, he was, possibly, my favorite character, sticking by his friends in the worst of times and always, rightfully, suspecting Gollum, and he followed out Gandalf's order to the end of it, so that made me appreciate him even more. I hated Frodo, I cursed every minute he was alive in the books/movies. In the movies even more.
Yes but... ...having Gandalf conviniently appear with a bunch of Giant Eagles... why didn't he bring them into the fight earlier! They could've just flown over to Mt.Doom on them, just dropped the ring in, flew out, Sauron dead, problem solved. It's not a question of wether you want certain characters to live or not, but by having that plot device to save them, you wonder why the entire three books arn't completely redundant.
We might think of Lords of the Rings as an adventure story, but I think that, at its core, it is actually about morals. The problem with the Ring was finding someone to carry it who would still be willing to part with it by the time they got to Mount Doom. Back in Hobbiton, I recall Gandalf admitting to Frodo that he dare not hold it himself for fear of its corrupting influence. As it happened, even Frodo was unable to actually cast the Ring away when the vital moment came, thank goodness Gollum was there.
Gollum is the ultimate hero in LotR. Really love his character throughout the books. Anyways... WTB time to write!
Lol! Well, the thing is I doubt Gandalf actually called the eagles (I forgot that too...), and what does it matter -how- was Frodo rescued? He would've been anyways, either the entire army of Gondor and Rohan would've swept through Mt.Doom searching for him, or Aragorn and the rest would never give up hope to search... So... Yeah!
Or Frodo could have been burned alive by lava. Somehow I can't see Rohan & Gondor suddenly being able to get across lava and save them. I know what ending I think works better.

LoTR, at it's core, was a journey. It is one of the most ancient stories around, The Odyssey and the the Epic of Gilgamesh are the early examples. It says something that these stories, most stories are basically the same, or can be catorgised into a few basic plots, can survive, and thrive, up to our modern day. musthavename: Remember the nazguls, the ones with the big dragons? Well, that is reason number one the eagles wouldn't have worked. Also, Sauron was watching for the ring, and if they flew in on an eagle, he could have dispatched it easily, with either his flying beasts, or missiles. It was only due to the battle at the Black Gate that he was distracted enough to allow Sam/Froddo time to destroy the ring. Hello AARtists, how was that for a first post?
musthavename: Remember the nazguls, the ones with the big dragons? Well, that is reason number one the eagles wouldn't have worked. I seem to remember a scene in the movie with an Eagle killing a Nazgul. Besides, Nazguls are far from invincible.
Fergu, I have one thing to say: Nazguls can't fly. Meaning, it's mostly up to their wyrms, and it has been seen that the giant eagles kick Wyrm butt. (Bear in mind that the giant eagles were around since the first age... So... They're not weak...) The Nazguls can't really help, aside from an occasional slash if they make it and if they're fast enough, and even if they do that, the eagles might just get pissed and rip them apart. The Nazguls are not only far from unbeatable, they're just as fragile as any other skilled human, however they are scary, that's the only reason why they are said to be immortal. Shall I also remind you, that Sauron was not aware to the fact Frodo and Sam were at his lands, even when they were at Cirith Ungol, he was clueless, so that breaks up the second reason, it is shown that the only time Sauron can actually -track- the ring, is when someone's wearing it.
