Now I may quote the current topic: I Don't Have a Clue Really
So...read any good AARs?
Good to see things are still buzzing here. What is your opinion of the secret voting? I must say I found it quite a shock because I like to follow the progress of the votes. Do you think it is better this way?
This looked like a nice option first, but now I see the problems with that - people like to see how the voting progresses (including me). If the majority (or the active AARtists) want, I will return to non-secret voting next time. I apologize for any inconveniences caused.
Personaly, I prefer the secret voting. Because as PW says, theres "bandwagoning". Where people would only end up voting for the ones that were winning. It's slightly annoying not knowing, but i'd rather have a completely fair vote.
I really don't know. I guess it's more fair with secret results. On the other hand it is less interesting and in my opinion less suspenseful, because you can't regularly have a look "How is it going now? And now? Any change? What is that AAR that's getting so many votes, have I even read it?"... I hope you get what I'm trying to express. Once you made your vote you have no reason to waste a thought about the competition until the voting is over.
It's a hard call - it certainly should stop the bandwagon effect, but it may also reduce interest in the competitions as a whole because there are no ongoing standings to follow. In the current Presidential elections, the constant polls keep the interest up and perhaps encourage people to vote. Can you even imagine the election with no polls?
Well as i'm not American, its really annoying having the American election front page news every single day when nothings really happened. I suppose it's different if I could actually vote though. On the other hand, if I was voting, I'd have decided on Obama as soon as McCain picked Palin.
I have started a poll about the secret or open polls issue, in a democratic fashion. Come and share your opinion here as well: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=203434
Anyone knows a literally good pesticide? [Yes, this is AAR-related]
Lots of gasoline and fire, works like a charm
