Osbourne as Director of SHIELD would be something else. I stopped picking up Thunderbolts since the departure of Ellis and Deodato, but I'll start again once Andy Diggle and RObert DelaTorre get on staff. Cant wait for that. TB was one of my fav. books of all time. Like you said, it looks like Wasp is a giant IED, but I wonder exactly what effect she was pulling off in that last page. Benis shows great promise with a lot of the scenes (particularly Marvel Boy) but it seems like there are too many characters and too little space to give everybody their time to shine past save a couple of panels.

Checked out the Avengers book this week? I think they are really setting up Dark Reign well...the villians really going to be the ones with clout Wonder what happens to TB if Osbourne does end up running SHIELD, does it continue with him simply running it as special ops group, does it go thru change like the Iron Man, Director of SHIELD book went or what. Hope Dark Reign doesnt run the TB, while its not as good as it was its still interesting.

got to reading a few that I recently picked up and must say, I'm now an avid fan of the Runaways.

thunderbolts are growing on me, jury is not yet out on them

empowered is good for a goof

got the ultimates coming soon, so I'll see how that goes.

Ok lets predict how SI ends up. Here is mine, Stark is disgraced, Osbourne becomes director of SHIELD. SHRA is enforced strictly, all Mighty Avengers being pals of Stark are tossed aside and the "official" sanctioned Avengers team is head up by Hood...the new Sorcerer Supreme becoming the "Dark Avengers". The bad become the heros for actually stepping up, the good guys having being precieved as yet again bringing the world to brink are pretty much all disgraced. The exception of course being people like Cap because everyone loves CA so Bucky will basically find himself in the middle. I think things will end up very, very bad for Stark and Richards more so Stark.

Question is, who can fill out the Dark Avengers? Hood is imo the prime choice to be its leader given recent events. The "tease" artwork of Hood, Emma, Namor, Doom etc is imo just that a tease since Doom's ego simply wouldnt allow him to work in a team and Emma is too tied up with the Xmen to be involved....UNLESS Mutant Zero is indeed who every indication seems to point to. With Madeline bouncing around again in the X books and Mutant Zero's hinted identity...perhaps a split between Scott/Emma would allow her to take a spot on the team. There really arent alot of high profile female "evil" characters. You got Emma who is more amoral then outright evil, Loki, Moonstone, Madame Masque and Mystique.

Who is that guy in the suit in that teaser of Doom, Loki, Hood, Namor and Emma? Kinda starnge.

Yea, Dormmamu being the source of the Hoods power is quite something. I pretty much agree with your Dark Reign predictions, except for the Norman Osbourne running SHIELD part. But your guess is as good as mine. I can't hazard a guess as to how this pans out. I was however excitied about the Dark Avengers. Bendis said some have already been Avengers, and others you would never expect to see as Avengers. I hope Doom would be apart of that, but as you said, his ego may prevent that. But who knows? We've seen the status quo shaken up a LOT in the last 3 years.

Yeah dunno see some people on comic forum site say its Purple Man but tough to judge by the pic and yeah marvel isnt scared to shake things up so I can see it coming about. Why not Osbourne as SHIELD director? Recent issues have him moving in to be seen as the savior of this battle while Stark flew away. I am suprised we havent seen much of Doom out of this invasion, since he thrives for things like this to show his superority.

I just think Osbourne is going to remain head the Thunderbolts for a while. But we'll see what happens.

Doom's absence has been kinda wierd, I must admit. He of all people I'de imagine would have a contingency for this. They show England, Wakanda and Asgard being affected by the invasion, why not Latveria. After he escapes from the Raft, that is.

Pretty bleh week including a horrible, horrible reveal on Jackpot's identity in Spiderman book. The one good book this week is yet again Thor...absolutely great issue of Thor finally getting his chance to deal with Cap's murder. Really good side story setup of Loki trying to drive wedges and it looks like Asgard gods will end up being free to roam....which I guess one could see as leading some credibilty to Loki's involvement in Dark Avengers since it is clear she wants involvement in the affairs of mortals.

Dude, I think this week was the best Thor issue of the series. When he started conversing with Cap I had to change my pants. Moments like that is why I read comics. That one really touched me. The great thing was, as you said, the story with Loki progressed as well. They didnt get bogged down in the sentimentality of the Thor/Cap dynamic. Coipel's art was great as usual too. At first, I wasn't in love with his kind of dumpy Thor look, but he's stepped it up everytime. I just don't want it to end. Definatley the best book Marvel is putting on the shelves.

Yeah it really was and it had a pretty sharp political tone to it with Thor/Cap exchange since we know if Cap America was actually real that is exactly how he would be treated by those with political agenadas right or left. Thor's response was perfect in every where...silencing the world media for a single moment. The exchange itself was great and Im sorry but you just dont get much better writing in comics then that. One thing I wonder though is Thor was suprised Cap's spirit was still there and not in valhalla or any version of afterlife. Probably doesnt mean much beyond Marvel will keep that door open for maybe someday in the future...for now though it is just great.

Funny too seeing people whine Thor doesnt have enough action but yet the comic thus far has always left me wanting more at the end and hate seeing the end. So much stuff going on Sif still imprisoned, Loki clearly manipulating, Baulder supporting Thor even when we know he doesnt really agree setting on tension there, even the little stuff like Blake meeting his exwife. There is just so much actual story going on here I dunno how anyone could not love the book. Who ever thought Thor and Captain America, two of what historically have been the two most cheesy Superman like characters Marvel has could actually be turned into such a compelling characters.

Oh btw anyone check out Ennis's Crossed? My advice dont if you are easily offended/disgusted...pretty disturbing last two pages but Ill continue to pick it up and see where it goes.

Haven't touched Crossed but I hear plenty. Might have to take that up.

I pretty much completly agree with you on the Thor comic. That kind of other-wordly exchange is really what you'de expect from the Thor book. The franchise players from Marvel really have their best books right now. And thats how it should be. Farction's Iron Man, Brubaker's Cap, Millar's Fantastic Four, and JMS' Thor are among their best books. And, like you said, there's so much to be resolved, I don't want this run to end anytime soon

Well Crossed seems to be setup as a counter to Walking Dead in overall plot except the undead/infected retain a level of their intelligence...which in Ennis's hands just means new and interesting ways to slaughter people

Really wish DC could get their act together with their main books so would have more to read...its just the entire hero line seems so disjointed. Want to take bets how bad Loeb screwed up Ultimatum this week? Cant believe they are trusting him with the series...sigh.

Sounds crazy. Ennis knows his violence. Plus I like the zombie genre to be shaken up a bit.

Yea, Loeb is a real dissapointment. Ultimates went from one of Marvel's best books to one of it's worst. A complete 180.

Bleh to Ultimatum #1...though huge hero body count. Great Iron Man book, the cracks in Stark are really depressing to see him heading down this path, I hope they dont end up turning him to drinking again but his world is just about ready to tumble over.

Yea, this week was all about Iron Man #7 for me. Good stuff. The Brand New Day crap can be a bit confusing for me at times. Matt Fractions says afdter this he'll be jumpiong Tony head first into another life or death situation arc.

I checked out Ultimatum. As usual, Loeb continues to deface what is left of the Ultimate U's credibility. Meh, at least Finch delivered on his end.

Slow week but alot of interesting leaks. Pretty much confirmed Emma is gonna end up aligned with Doom/Osbourne etc...and interesting glimpse at covers of Dark Avengers and some other titles. Dark Avengers cover over at IGN show Venom, an Iron Man suit with Cap's emblem on the front, Hawkeye, Wolverine and Ms Marvel...though all the faces are dark so its really impossible to tell other them from the uniforms. So could just be misdirection that it is other people assuming the roles...will be interesting to see.

Yea, saw that Dark Avengers cover myself. Nice to see Hawkeye back. You check out the new Fantastic Four?

Also, it's good to see the T'Bolts back on track. Andy Diggle seemes to have a good grasp on the material.

Captain America was busniess as usually...which is nothing bad at all. The conclusion to Matt Fraction's Thor one-shots was good as well.
