Seems like Loeb is screwing up some good Marval titles. I liked him when he was at DC working on Superman & Batman.
Yeah he is, its not like he is horrible like you said he did fine with Batman so dunno what the issue is lately. Loeb's main problem is he keeps making established characters act out of character and not in a good way. Kirkman had same problem with UX, he does a great job on his own book TWD but he just sucked so bad with Ultimate Xmen.
Hi guys, Great to see a comic thread on TWcenter. I'm from Glasgow, Scotland. I love comics. At the moment I'm reading All*star Superman, Ennis' The Boys and the Morrison Batman. Enjoyed the Alan Moore Top Ten books about the superhero city and the cops who have to police it - a bit like Hill Street Blues on acid. Keep reading them comic books - they lead to degeneracey!!! :o)
How is The Boys? Havent gotten round to it, JUST finished the Ellis's Transmetropolitan...makes me wish I had been collecting when it came out. 60 issues of pure goodness, anyone who hasnt read it really should provided you arent easily offended by half alien pedophiles and midget nazi prostitutes running around. Spider is one of the most hilarious comic characters ever. Was going to start finishing Ennis's Preacher series which never got around to finishing, if The Boys is any good guess Ill have to start picking it up. Ennis is really great writer.
Just started reading The Walking Dead comics, very exciting, kinda gruesome, and has a lot of things going on rather then zombies killing people... a very well written experience
Finished the Watchmen and was in awe. I feel bad for Rorschach. But the ending is brilliant.
Walking Dead is really great, my only gripe is the pace has slowed down alot recently as well as the books coming out late. The b/w doesnt take anything away from it, I like that Kirkman is pretty unpredictable with it.
Ultimate Marvel, as a rewrite and a readaptation of the original universe (despite actually being an alternate universe), was able to create interesting plot changes, and what's more, the character rewrites did not damage the image of their original counterparts (for the most part).
http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer...ic-con-footage trailer for Wolverine movie, brief glimpse of Gambit no Deadpool in the trailer sadly. As far as Ultimate Marvel goes, alot of it isnt interesting is the problem. The Ultimates, Spiderman were/are the rest has been bleh.
did you see the 2nd part? theres two if you didn't know... its just that my stupid computer won't load it up...
Yeah looks like they are ignoring any ww2 references (guess so much for any hope of linking to Cap's movie) since looks like a young wolverine with his claws? Not keen on but still looks good from the trailer. I was just hoping for look at DP but guess better save that for the movie considering how mental he is. Looking forward to it, Hugh really seems to love playing the character.
As far as the Ultimates U goes; the only consistent title is USM. The Ultimates was good until they got a new creative team. The Ultimate line started out very promising, but it got stale after awhile. And in a lot of cases, they just reintroduced characters we've been readin about for years. I'mpretty ambivalent about the Wolvie movie. I'll wait a bit before giving my opinion.
hey danzig deadpool was in there, it was ryan reynolds, the problem was that he had no mask and his face wasn't mutilated but that happened after he joined the weapon x program so maybe they showed him before he volunteered for the program....
Ah ok damnit guess Im gonna have to watch it again and catch it, was expecting to see a more noticeable presences of him like Gambit with throw which was obvious. Im more interested in seeing Gambit and DP then I am Wolverine and Sabre
Me too. How they appear and will be presented hasn't been established yet, so I'm more interested in seeing how they turn out than Logan and Creed.
Ok so bought/caught up The Boys...man Ennis is just so great. Gee you think he REALLY hates superheros?
I should look into borrowing The Boys from a friend. Everyone seems to enjoy it and I've heard a lot of interesting things about it. Man, I think I'm just going to give up on X-Men. I got back into it with the House of M and there were some interesting things going on in the title for a bit. But issue 500 is just awful. The writing is some of the worse I've seen. Even Astonishing is mediocre with Whedon off the title.
The Boys is worth it, Ennis is pretty much in your face with a few disturbing things in the book. And yeah X 500 was just horrible, none of the characters seem like the they are acting the way they should and ug spare me the painful lecturing with energy thing. Politics mixed in with comics is fine if it comes off as this is the views of the character, it comes off as nothing but cheesy when it seems to be the writer using the character (see Mark Miller's run on Authority for prime example of this). The story seemed disjointed and honestly right now there isnt ONE good X book, maybe X-Factor but Legacy, Ult X and Uncanny are just horrible atm. At this point Im kinda of disappointed SW didnt get them all on M-day.
As far as Uncanny X-Men goes, Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction are better suited for more down to earth characters like Captain America or Iron Fist. I (unfortunately) bought the 'Rise and Fall of the Shiar' hardcover, and Brubaker let me down a bit. They just don't seem to have a grasp of the characters they're dealing with. This is unfortunate since UXM is supposed to be the main X book since Whedon and Cassaday left Astonishing
anybody know when the walking dead #51 is going to be released? on some site it said july but i checked everywhere and no one has it
