What ARE they going to do with the Cap movie? Are they going to use the Red Skull as the villain? Can Red Skull be done without looking corny?
the movie is definitely gonna be set during WWII thats what they said, it probably also will be the Red Skull since he's one of Caps major enemies during that time, and probably in the end they're gonna have him freeze and then Tony Stark, Nick Fury, or Shield will find him thus ending before the avengers movies
Yeah, it'll be during WWII and stick close to the Marvel origins. I'm not too worried about them using the Red Skull since technology and effects have come a long way since that god awful Capt. America movie made in the 80's (I believe) Here's and interesting article that shows a Capt. America related easter egg in Iron Man. http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/05/...d-in-iron-man/
Going to be wierd, Cap is going to be set in WW2 and Thor is Asgard...so basically both movies have to end with them coming to earth/modern time. Guess its good because it will help avoid any staleness or feeling of been there done that. The title for Cap movie sucks too since he isnt the first Avenger! Hell he isnt even an original one. Skull's appearance should be fine thanks to modern tech though I hope they go for a more realistic approach aka Joker then overthe top. Sucks now because TDK has redefined what is acceptable for movies as far as comic villains go, that its ok to emulate the actual comic version that is vile, and evil. So Skull needs to be the vile, amoral mastermind that he is in the comics...that anyone and everyone is worth sacrificing or killing if it advances his plans. Last thing I want to see is oh look stereotypical nazi.
It's gonna be a really difficult casting call for Cap and Thor. I given it much thought, and I draw rather vivid blanks when I try to think about someone to fill the roles. Cap's story is pretty straight forward and wouldnt be very difficult to pull off. The same with Thor. Though, as Danzig pointed out, TDK has set the bar pretty high; and these attempts will definatley be under a whole lot of scrutiny.
Marvel Entertainment Present....Keanu Reeves as Thor, Kevin Costner as Captain America in The Avengers! Featuring Sylvester Stallone as Antman and Ralph Macchio as Quicksilver, Fran Drescher as The Wasp and Mary Kate Olsen as The Scarlett Witch. Perfect Avenger movie cast imo! And ug of New Avengers 43 today...the pace of SI is just too slow.
Oh, gentlemen. I must confess! I'm an apostate! I was consumed in the world of comics. But I left it a year ago only to be left in the dark with the most exciting events occuring. The secret invasion in Marval, the crisis in DC, and the invasion of Hollywood. The only thing that holds me back is College and money. Comics are expensive when they all add up. And I don't have the time to read them anymore. Oh, cursed am I!
Just pick up the trades when you have the time Kev-o, hell of alot cheaper and easier to catch up on stuff. Just saves alot of hassle.
well an Ant-Man movie may be good because Hank Pym was a little crazy sometimes
I try to do that danzig, but trades are so damn slow to come out. It all depends on how the issues come out and they can be pushed back. Like the Ultimates 1 & 2.
Hi to all Comic fans!!! i am reading comics since 1987(it was the year i was able to read) My favorites are: Spinterman Ironman X-men Batman
Yeah trades suck if you hate waiting, atleast you wont have to worry bout Ultimates 3 trade since it so godawful I wouldnt recommend it or wish it on anyone And welcome Neoptolemos, all good books there but hate what they have done with Spiderman and BND...though Im hoping New Ways to Die storyline will put it back on track.
I really enjoyed 80's comic books, they were more authentic!
Hey kev-o, same thing happened to me when i entered college, slowly money became an issue and comics went to the way side. Luckily this happened during the 90's so I really don't feel like I missed much. I know it sucks to wait for the trades, but they usually package these huge story arcs into one or two trades, so start making subtle suggestions to friends and family as birthday gifts. If it weren't for the trades I would never have read Y-TLM or Runaways or House of M or The Hedge Knight. I used to be a huge spidey fan, but now I think it comes out three times a month, too much spidey for me. I can barely keep up with what I am currently reading.
The three times a month thing for spiderman IS annoying, mainly because you cant really skip a few issues if the current story is lame since you'll end up missing something. Plus having to alternate between writer/art team makes it pretty uneven, one week really good one week just godawful. Despite that the whole thing is moving along rather slow...its been months now since One More Day and yet we still dont have many answers. Really frustrating. Btw really good Avengers Initiative this week...kinda of funny the book that should be 3rd tier in the whole thing is the best out of the three.
Hm, your the second person today to say that Avengers Iniative is one of the better titles in the whole secret invasion thing. I should check it out. The problem I'm having with the Secret Invasion is thta it is covering so many titles I have no idea what order events are happening in and which titles are key and I really don't feel like buying every title that has Secret Invasion written on the cover. Wish there was some sort of guide to it all.
The SI tie-ins for New and Mighty Avengers are better than the actual event book. Before that, Initiative Avengers was a better Avengers book than the other two.
a Doc Savage movie was just announced at Comic-Con... if anyone wanted to know......
The Secret Invasion is what i'm intrigued in, but like the Civil War its spread all throughout the Marval Universe and is hard to keep track of. And whats this about the Ultimate Universe coming to a close? Joe Quasada hinted at such at the Comic Con on G4. An a red Hulk? WTF? And about Spider-Man I'm pissed about the whole Mephisto deal. Ruins sooo much stuff that I liked about it as a series.
AS DMW said its been consistently the best out of the Avenger books. Its taken old characters made them interesting (even Pym was tolerable but atleast now we know why!) and some fun new characters. It is WELL worth the money and one of the first books I grab each month. SI is alot easier to track then CW was. All you really need is the SI series itself and the Avenger books. Any other SI ties are "special editions" like the FF book or limited to a few titles like X-Force and She-Hulk. Far as Ultimate Universe goes, Im guessing they are going to semireboot the universe...really only Ultimate Spidey is working now that Loeb has destroyed the Ultimates themselves. UFF is horrible and UXM isnt much better. 616 universe has so many events going on Ult universe's biggest event? Whether Peter and MJ are going to do it next month in the annual And the Red Hulk thing ug...again Loeb at work here. No idea where he is going with this but there better be a pay off for having old Green punked out by the Red one. As far as Mephisto thing goes just bleh...undoing 15 years of backstory for no other reason then they wrote themself into a corner with Spidey's identity being known.
