Man, I got into reading Thunderbolts because of following Robert Baldwin's character through the Front Line series during The Civil War and now he has totally disappeared from the title. Its a whole new cast of characters now, none of whom I have any connection to. I'll give it a chance and see where its going, hopefully it will continue to be one of my monthly picks.

Also started reading New Avengers 50 and man I just love the layout of the panels and the expressions the characters are drawn in. It really helps to bring out the personalities of the team. One thing though, which is even commented on in the mag, is that it does seem to be a very under-powered team at the moment.

Yeah both avenger teams atm are big time underpowered guess a necessary evil to make the DA threat credible. I think in the end we all know Sentry will have whatever hold over him Norman has broken and Ares will realize honor isnt such a bad thing sometimes. Until then unless Thor decides to join one of the avenger teams DA vastly outpower them and arguably so does Hood's gang who even if they dont they outnumber them.

Being a Thunderbolts fan, I picked up Deadpool #8 and I need some background.

What's up with this character? Is he crazy? Does he have multiple personality disorder?

I only ever recall seeing him waaaay back when he fought Shatterstar in the original X-Force series.

He is insane He is an ex special forces solider who had developed terminal cancer and entered the Weapon-X program under the promise of treatment for his disease with health regen similar to wolverine. It short of went wrong and cancer basically fushed with the treatment causing him to become horrible disfigured and drove him insane. His regen factor is greatly superior to Wolverine and Sabertooth, basically he regens every cell in his body constantly hence the disfigurement.

As you can tell from reading him he talks to himself, to readers and says things completely inapporiate for the situation, he is also pretty much completely unpredictable he'll go on a mission, nearly achieve it and at the last moment decide he is going to do something else for no other reason then because he thought it would be funny or amusing. He is like one of small number of people Taskmaster cant adapt to by learning his moves because of his unpredictability. He is also one of the few people to defeat Wolverine quite a few times.

You should pick up some of the books from previous mini series or Cable/Deadpool series...he truly is one of the most interesting/insane characters out there. The war with Skrulls issues are absolutely insane what he does to them, since he was the one who basically provided the info on Spiderwoman. Cant wait for the Wolverine movie because he is going to be in it, hope they treat his character well cause he could spawn a series of movies himself.

Thanks for the info danzig. He does sound like an interesting character and perhaps the Marvel Digital Comics site has some of the Deadpool titles on it. G

'Pools is also coming up in the new Tbolts story Magnum Opus. Apparently, he's trying to go right for Osborn in the wake of SI because Osborn took the credit for acing the Skrull Queen; which Osborn couldnt have done if he hadnt intercepted Pool's info on Skrull biology.

    So...who saw the Watchmen?

The Magnum Opus storyline is why I picked up Deadpool in the first place. Just didn't understand much of what was going on with the character. Marvel's Digital Comics has only 4 comics in the Deadpool Weapon X series, that may be all there were, but I'm checking em out to learn more about the character.

I already have my tics for Watchmen and will be seeing it tomorrow (sunday) afternoon. Worth the watch?

Saw movie tonight...didnt disappoint really if Watchmen could be made into a movie this was probably the best anyone could do. Enjoyed it alot and it was faithful to Moore's book....Id rank it above DK as my favorite comic to movie adaption now.

I thought it was OK. Not really great, but a movie worth seeing in the theater, and with ticket prices these days that means something. However, I thought it could have used a bit o' editing to help with its pacing. Not being able to remember the events in the graphic novel, I just felt there were moments where my attention was completely lost and the acting seemed a bit forced. But once the story got up to speed the ride got much more enjoyable.

Bleh Scarlet Johansson as Black Widow in IM2....not liking it.

I agree with you danzig. Scarlet Johansson does not do anything for me. At all. Also, I think an Incredible Hulk 2 is in order. And also, I did not like the Watchmen novel or movie. Marvel rules, and Hulk, Venom, and Captain America are my fav. heroes and Iron Man and Incredible Hulk my fav. superhero movies. Tobey is not a good Peter, Topher Grace sucks, and the Marvel Universe is ruined right now and they need to fix it. I can give examples if you like.

Doesnt look like we'll see a Hulk 2, for whatever reason he just cant seem to be done right for big screen.

The Incredible Hulk was amazing! That fight scene at the end vs. Abomination was the best fight scene I'd ever seen on screen. The scene I'd seen on screen. (Say that 5 times fast.)

yeah the ending fight was good, Norton is a good Banner but Liv sucks as Betty and the rest of the story was kinda of bleh. though it was nice to see glimpse of super soldier formula and what to expect from Cap. I liked the movie over all just it didnt do so well at box office.

I didn't think I was going to get into the Dark Avengers, but you know, its growing on me. The scene between Osborn and Sentry (Bob) in Sentry's room was great. Well written and well drawn. You can never tell when Osborn is really opening up or when he is completely manipulating people, I don't even think the character knows anymore, which makes him really interesting.

Hehe yeah that scene was interesting cause first reaction is Osbourne is screwing with his head but what if DA turns out that Osbourne *really* is attempting to do what he thinks is best just like Tony did. Yeah quite a few flaws but so did Tony...I mean christ Tony helped clone Thor.

Ok Loeb needs to be fired....I have to say Ultimanum #3 is probably the single worst comic Ive read from the "big" publishers in years, this includes the godawful Rulk punching the Watcher and punking out Thor (also Loeb ironically). They shouldnt bother rebooting Ultimate universe after this, the damage done to it cannot be repaired imo.

Saw post on comic forums and I have to say I agree even though its harsh that if anyone is a still a Loeb fan after Ult 3, then they must be retarded...

For anyone who hasnt read it yet, dont...
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
nearly every hero dies, for no apparent reason, including Pym who bites the head off of Blob for eating Janet last issue. Yes that is right Henry Pym, antman/giantman, a genius in his own right...BITES THE HEAD OFF Of BLOB. Who we still have no idea why all of a sudden Blob went from a father somewhat worried about his daughter to a damn cannibal. The only redeeming quality is the artwork, including an amazing panel of a half naked and dead Valkyie. Its just too bad no one gives a crap about the character since we dont even know how or why she has powers....

Loeb's writing is the quality of a 10 year old fanboy, actually probably an insult to 10 year olds....Im pretty sure one of my wannabe stories at age 10 of Spiderman and Superman teaming up to battle aliens from Venus was superior to anything Loeb has done recently.

Decent week, nothing great but nothing horrible either...things seem to be in a building period for many books. An ok Mighty Avengers but good payoff at the end that should be HIGHLY interesting, not sold on the team yet though. A good New Avengers mostly cause the ending. Excellent Cap conclusion to current storyline now back to Sharon! Weak Thunderbolts but hilarious Deadpool "you mean he found a cure for cancer and turned it into a weapon?". Hell even Ennis's Crossed finally went somewhere with issue 4, maybe there is hope. Glad to see Magick is back with the conclusion of XInfernus, Josh Whedon might have grown up with a crush on Kitty but for me it was Magick when she got wisked away as a young girl and aged to become mean ass sorceror. Really pulling for her to become the new Sorceror Supreme but with New Mutants coming back kinda of doubt it.

Yeah, I was commenting on how they are ruining one of my favorite titles in Thunderbolts. There is just nothing in that team that makes it worth reading. I'll keep on for a bit and if this doesn't change it will be another way to save some money.

Picked up Messiah War (think that's the title) looks like it might be an interesting read. I especially enjoyed Deadpools appearance. Seems they are bolstering this characters presence about the Marvel titles.

The Spidey unmasking thing confused me a bit. But, and I may be remembering things out of sequence, did Spidey make a deal with a Demon so people would forget who he is and didn't that even include Mary Jane forgetting who he is? I guess this would make sense why no one knew who he was on the Avengers. I need to go back and read my post Civil War spiderman again.
