Yeah not fond of the artwork in XFactor either but the writing is as mentioned fantastic. And yeah that really was a good development in the book, caught me by surprise too but pleasantly. Somewhat slow week on books, Avengers book was good and starting to get a bit concerned about Ennis's Crossed. Three issues in and its just shock value stuff, no typical deep characterization yet, could as well be 3 issues of people just being killed horribly so far which is disappointing. I mean even The Pro which was like shock radio for comics had a point so far Crossed shows no indication of developing one.

For shock value with a soul I recommend 'The Boys'

Calero's work on X-Factor is a bit to get used to. Like the writing, it shines moreso in the low-key, one-on-one moments. Great facial expressions. I believe the inker is somebody else now. Dont know his/her name. Got the second hardcover yesterday, so I'm about halfway to getting caught up.

Just got Cap and FF this week. FF was a build-up issue, unfortunatley. I thought Doom's masters would be revealed in this one. Cap was strong and consistent as usual.

Oh, and feel free to discuss what you like. No need to curtail your thoughts on my account. Just drop a *SPOLIER WARNING* tag.

Yeah Ive been following The Boys, it is great and that was what I was expecting with Crossed. Ennis's twisted view on a post apoc world with interesting characters. Preacher, The Boys, Punisher etc I expect more from him then what Im getting. Going to drop the book I guess and check it out in tbp. I love end of the world books, I followed Y Last Man almost religiously, Walking Dead is absolutely fantastic(last issue is how you do shock and strong story) figured Ennis would be the pinnacle of the genre, guess not. Guess even the greats are entitle to have a lackluster period or two

    As far as Doom goes...
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Well since Brit and MI title is hyping Doom meeting Dracula on the moon (yeah I dunno I never read MI and it just sounds insanely bizarre) there is alot of odd stuff going on with the good Doctor

Havent read my copy of FF or Cap yet and man did Ultimate Spider come out this week or not? Shop didnt have any but they had tons of copies of last issue of Final Crisis! One assumes they will be handing them out for homeless people to keep warm with...seriously man what a huge mess FC was.

So, I got around to reading War Machine #2 last night. Blah. I don't think I'm going to be wasting my money on that anymore. Just seemed like there was no heart to it and I thought its layout and presentation was poorly done. Might as well save myself some money.

This morning I read Mighty Avengers (21 I believe) interested in seeing where its going. But again, might be a title I'll just let go and catch up with later on the Marvel Digital comics site.

Yeah Im not sure of the point of War Machine and really dont think its a title that is going to last long. Hell Im almost convinced it exists to hype the Iron Man 2 sequel next year when he'll appear in it.

Honestly I think the recent events putting Hank Pym center stage is hype as well for the supposed Ant Man movie they plan on making. Now that marvel controls the fate of their films they can go about promoting them however they want.

Yea, I believ Ult. Spidey came out this week. IGN had a 8.8 review for it.

As far as the Ant Man movie goes, apparently Simon Peg is going to be having a big part in making it. Sounds entertaining.

I never read any of Final Crisis, but from what I heard it was a real mess. Apparenly, you have to be up on over 50 yrs of DC continuity to comprehend whats going on.

War Machine looks like a book destined to be cancelled. He's tried to hold down solo books before and thats what happened. Hope I'm wrong though.

Oh yeah they are definately pushing Pym hard and I have to say for the first time in years I actually like him now. He isnt whining or crying, his powers are still stupid even with swapping to the Wasp but he is alot more interesting now. I absolutely loved the issues with him talking to Josecta posing as Janet for therapy purposes. If you are going to rebuild a character THAT is the way you do it imo.

Lame shop didnt have Ult Spidey and yeah Final Crisis I was basically bewildered by. DC really needs to make their books more accessible, hell start releasing entire lines of hardcovers or tbp covering complete storylines so one can atleast try and catch up and comprehend what is going on. Far too much cross title. I really wanted to get into the return of Barry Allen but I just couldnt make myself endure it, that imo is a really bad sign.

    <Spoilers concerning Hulk vs DVD>

*sigh* So a buddy of mine rented that new Hulk Vs animated movie this weekend. Cool stuff, but once again, Thor gets the short end of the stick throughout the film. Pretty much to the point of Logan faring MUCH better than he against the Green Goliath. As a Thor fan, I'm used to seeing weak and timid portrayals of the Odinson, but this erked me to no end. Literally, Thor gets beaten to near death twice in his own backyard, yes in Asgard! Now, as I said, I'm not unfamiliar with golide locks getting pummeled by the Hulk; but here the fight is about 80-20 in Hulks favor. I did expect that going in, since Hulk is the headliner of DVD, but come on! Honestly, Thor gets in about 4-6 attacks in that hurt Hulk, then he gets smashed into oblivion. As a matter of fact, Hulk beats all the Asgardians with ease with Thor being dealt with as if he had the power level of the Warriors Three. That's not how Stan Lee envisioned his Norse Avenger. Pretty lame in that regard, but that aside, it's worth watching. Thor was still the real hero of his movie. The Wolverine one was pretty cool (including some hilarious dialogue fom Deadpool, thats right). It's basically Hulk vs Logan vs Weapon X (Sabretooth, 'Pools, L. Deathstrike, Omega Red) and it delivers on the brutal, visceral violence thatr you'de expect from a fight between Hulk and Logan. So I'de say check it out. If you liked Marvel Animated Studios other stuff, it's worth a rental. So there's the end of my rant.

Curse you Marvel on how you've been portraying for these years (with exception of course to JMS GREAT current run)!! Dc at least handles their hallmark characters with some respect and don't have them being constanly jobbed out due to popularity contests.

yah read reviews for it and decided to not even bother. I dont understand Marvel's treatment of Thor, they build him up so much as a powerhouse and then let Loeb have the Rulk basically destroy him, including disarming him of his hammer due to lack of gravity and kicking his helmet off into space. I dont understand how we are suppose to grasp that Thor is so powerful if he gets punked out so much and sounds like he is in the dvd is well. Which is it Marvel is Thor one of the most powerful beings on earth or not? Make up your mind! Atleast Sentry has the excuse of mental issues and Hulk has well which Hulk is it but Thor has no such shield to protect his character. Anything outside JMS's Thor is imo worthless the exception being his appearance in Avengers carting away Pym and his chipping of IM's armor with a tiny tap of his hammer and beat down later that followed.

Marvel should do some wierd Hulk vs stuff
Hulk vs Scarlett Witch - Witch increases the change the Hulk is a giant green fuzzy wuzzy harmless rabbit
Hulk vs Phoenix - Phoenix goes back in time rearranges banner's dna so he turns into a the incredible dunce, marvel's stupidest character!
Hulk vs Great Lake Avengers - watch as squirrel girl pwns him
Hulk vs Bart Simpsons - !

Agreed. Its such a shame that such incosistency in how he is depicted even exists. Literally, Thor is at one point in the middle of saying "For Asgard--" only to get punched in the face an nearly beaten to death. I know the DVD is mostly for younger audiences and also newcomers to the super hero mythos, but what kind of message does that send to these unfamiliar peoples? What, that Thor can't put up nearly as good a fight against the Hulk as say Wolverine? Preposterous! I say thee nay Marvel!

Oh flip side really the Iron Man story line seems to be kicking off finally with this week's issue...Im interested to see where Fraction is gonna go with this and how Stark ends up.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Pepper in her own custom made Iron Man suit was hilarious, hope Fraction has a point though and doesnt really plan on her being a hero and it was just Stark's way of protecting her

Yea, Pep's new digs are pretty sweet. Curious to see how that plays out. Glad to see that IM is finally shifting into full gear after 2 issues of set up. Other than IM 10, it was a slow week. Oh well, Thor #600 comes out next week! Woot Woot!

Yeah cant wait 100 pages of Thor goodness dunno if you read the previews for it but
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Thor vs Sentry AND Ares perhaps?!
man cant wait to see how it pans on. You gone and pissed off the thunder god....watch out. Btw Im digging Namor's appearance on Cap's book and storyline is pretty good I wonder if we are actually going to get a return of HT.

Next week is really light except for Thor, 3rd issue of X-Infernus (was a huge fan of the original Magick stuff waaaay back) and the issue I dread, Captain Britain's Doom and Dracula meeting on the moon(!).

And so Loki's plan is unleashed....man was that an epic battle or what. I really hope its not the end of it because alot more can be done with Granddaddy. I loved how the avengers were basically brush aside like a bug of course conviently Sentry and Ares werent there....NOW THAT would have been some nice 4 way fight.

Sorry for my late entry. Yea, Thor was something else, definately one of the best idividual issues of 09. I guess JMS is saving Ares ans Sentry for another day possibly. I'm also glad that JMS decided to touch back on Doom's role in Thor's book. He appreared all those months ago, so I;m glad he didnt forget.

Dark Avengers 2 was pretty good this week, loved the Sentry scene
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
and the little scene when Norman says the avengers wont go after Tony (we know he will do it seperately from iron man book) was a good indication that even HE isnt entirely secure in his control over sentry)

Yep Cap, Thor, Walking Dead are basically my three priority books each month followed by Avengers titles, spiderman etc. Im guessing we'll see Human Torch's return at the conclusion of this storyline but Im looking for return to Sharon storyline which is supposely coming up. As interesting as current storyline is I really miss the Skull/Sharon stuff.
