This topic is reserved for members to post their expertise in Greco-Roman "Byzantine" history. I will reformat this with additional information at a later date, until then feel free to introduce yourselves.

I personally as you may understand by now created the group and invited you all here. I would like to see a shift in terminology for the medieval Romans and Greeks and all those in between and on the edge under the once great Old Roman Civilization for whom it applies as per historical facts. I believe simply "Roman" (unless otherwise required for further distinction and classification) is sufficient, and accurately in line with the philosophy of those who lived under the title. Though other titles may apply just as well.

My fields of research include 4th through 8th century A.D. Greco-Roman world, military and art.

I have to admit that I dont know a great deal about the ERE, so I'm hoping to learn from the experts in this group.

I have read the Julian Norwich Trilogy and Constantinople: The Last Great Siege by Roger Crowley.

    Both are highly recommended.

I can trace the roman history from 21th April 753 BC to 17 July 1918 AD. If you want to know how, just ask me...

This is off topic, but if we're insisting on lexical accuracy regarding historical terms, all the more so for basic grammar-"there" is an adverb ("I placed the heads of the Persians there"), while "their" is a possessive adjective-"take their kataphraktoi to Iberia." I caught this mistake in the opening post, sorry but these kinds of mistakes really irk me!

oh definitely my mistake, I know better... thanks for pointing it out.

Edit: I just realized you may be bothered by the small 'o' I began this sentence with, and for that I apologize.
