Just a place to chat about WWII
So... how bout that Rommel
Erwin Rommel? Yah he has a neat story to him.
Very talented and capable guy, shame he fought for such a evil regime!
For as saxdude says, Hitler was 'misunderstood'
I hate to say it, but Rommel is one of my favorite generals. He was brilliant in the use of armor in war. He also cared very deeply for his family - he committed suicide to save them (his wife and child) from Hitler.
Rommel may have been one of the best in WWII, but then again...
'But then' what?
I guess he lost at the end, metaphorically and literally. For all his brilliance he was thrown out of Africa and his defense of Atlantic Wall and Normandy failed at the end. He was defeated field-marshal and if he lived through to the end of the war maybe he would've ended up in Nuremberg as the others for participating in aggressive war and serving the evil regime.
Have any of your relatives or family been in WWII? My grandpa was on the USS Hull in Pearl Harbor the day of the attack. I think one of my more distant relatives was in the Battle of the Bulge.
My Grandfather was in SS and was fighting against evil soviets in Eastern Front.
SS fighting evil? propaganda? yes My great grandfather was part of the 101st! he is also dead D:
