Depends... Usually I just go out, make a replay and set some cameras that seem to be nice. Then I throw away about 2/3 of the shots and only use the good ones. For bigger projects I make a storyboard with camera angles etc...
How did you guys make the Cannae movie anyways? I mean, those armies looked HUGE! did you use some super pc or something? I bet it took you like...a loooong time.
Two or three scenes in Cannae has been edited with After Effects, so there were just a normal army (maybe 2000 men) and then, to put it simply, I copied those units and pasted them elsewhere in the shot so that it looked as if there are additional units. But yeah, it took a loooong time to make it look realistic The rest of the film shows mass armies played by Quinctius Cincinnatus...
cool... mmm... *tries to come up with a topic before this group dies* um...so, what non-tw machinimas do you guys watch?
Hey I'm about ready to get my intro video made I will post some replays here hopefully this week. Just 10 to 15 second clips is all I'm looking for. They will go onto the front page of a website I'm working on and be incorporated into a flash intro if I can find someone to make the flash for me.
@ yaelthecruel: non-tw machinimas? hmmm, there are plenty! A good animated machinima is "Anna" which is based on the Quake 3 engine (though, the story is rather... uhm, not soo exciting ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKEr5RRKoO4 Then there are some very good Sims II-machinimas like this one: http://www.britannicadreams.com/snowwitch.html Very funny is Arby 'n' the Chief (mainly Halo 3)!! Must look Episode 1 The Movie @ Armatus: Didn't Ar-Pharazôn want to help you? If not, you can send me the replays and I'll give you some 30 seconds footage or at least I can prepare some cameras for you so that you can render them yourself... D|need
I'm a check them out , but, how could I not know Arby'n'the Chief? It's probably the best Halo machinima since RvB. Actually one of the few that I've really gotten into, along with Pre-Game lobby.
Guys thanks for the offers to help, I haven't had a chance yet to get replays, I was trying to log into multiplayer, but as you know it's a big problem with gamespy. I may just make solo replays, but I forgot the line I need to insert in the preferences somewhere to be able to save solo replays.
GUYS GUYS! Check this out! http://www.dailymotion.com/Chretzel/...ngl_videogames
wow that's really a good documentary, I'm only a quarter way through watching it, it's a long movie
@ Armatus: as long as you don't play campaign battles you should always be able to save replays after the battle. At leat I am... @ Rommel: that video is crazy... That guy is crazy lol. How can someone ever compete with that? Well, he had his whole university supporting him, but still... I instantly went into contact when I saw this lol
We must hire Chretzel! Imagine, he skinned he's own, made custom anims, made his own map just to get it right AND 40 MINUTES! By god.
@D|need you're right lol... I knew that... Well hopefully we will see more excellent documentaries like that. You know considering this is a movie club. Why not we make a new team that makes documentaries. Everyone could have a role, from voice narration, to custom art for maps, music etc... instead of just one person making their own movie.
Have you passed that Chretzel link to Empress Meg or how comes that it appears on the front page now?
No, Meg knew it first, some guy made a thread a the NTW2 subforum, but since it garnered few replies and few views, I had to get the link here to make out some replies from you veterans
Ah nice, thanks
If anyone is looking to get some action clips, there will be some games hosted Tuesday (tomorrow) early morning/daytime - CST that's -5 GMT. Feel free to look me up on xfire: armatum EDIT: Tournament - I JAN MMIX
