Anyway... currently checking on some nice callligraphy with comments a friend of mine has, but I'm no specialist.
IMO Mosques beat Churches or Temples 100:1 To me Mosques are such a beauty. Too bad we cant paint as good as we build
wow nice ! add this Spoiler Alert, click show to read: history about this mosque Masjid Nabawi, the world’s second biggest place of worship in the world began construction in the year 1 Hijrah or 622 AD by The Holy Prophet. It started when the Holy Prophet’s camel stopped, in that exact place he said he wanted to build a masjid there. At the time The Holy Prophet stayed at Abu Ayyub’s house for 7 months, until his house next to the mosque was made. When it was first made it was aligned to face Jerusalem because that was the qiblah at that time, then it was he adjusted it south towards Mecca. One of Islam’s followers at the time, Amar bin Yasir, and The Holy Prophet were the first people who began work on the foundation of Masjidun Nabawi. The masjid was approximately 98 ft × 110 ft (30 m × 35 m), it was made of palm trunks and mud walls it was a generally open aired building with only leaves as its roof. In 707, Umayyad Caliph Al-Walid ibn Abd al-Malik tore down the old structure and built a larger one in its place, incorporating the house and tomb of The Holy Prophet, with stone foundations and a roof supported on stone columns. The mosque walls were decorated with mosaics by Coptic and Greek craftsmen. The courtyard was surrounded by a gallery on four sides, with four minarets on its corners. A mihrab topped by a small dome was built on the qiblah wall. Abbasid Caliph al-Mahdi added 20 doors to the mosque: eight on each of the east and west walls, and four on the north wall. During the reign of the Mamluk Sultan Qalawun, a dome was made above the house and tomb of the Prophet a fountain was built outside of the masjid. Sultan Al-Nasir Muhammad rebuilt the fourth minaret that had been destroyed earlier by a lightning strike that destroyed much of the mosque in 1481. The Ottoman sultans who controlled Medina from 1517 until World War I also helped make it bigger. Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent rebuilt the western and eastern walls of the mosque and built the northeastern minaret known as al-Suleymaniyya. He added a new mihrab and placed a new dome covered in lead sheets and painted it green above the Prophet's house and tomb. During the reign of Ottoman Emperor Abdulmecid, he entirely changed it with the exception of The Holy Prophet’s Tomb. The prayer hall to the south was doubled in width and covered with small domes equal in size .The domes were decorated with Qur'anic verses. The qiblah wall was covered with tiles featuring Qur'anic verses. The floors of the prayer hall and the courtyard were paved with marble and red stones and a fifth minaret (al-Majidiyya) was built to the west of the enclosure. In 1951 King Ibn Saud reinforced older columns with concrete and copper rings at the top. Majidiyya minarets were replaced by two minarets in Mamluk style to the east and west of the prayer hall. Two additional minarets were made to the northeast and northwest of the mosque. A library was built along the western wall to house historic Qur'ans and other religious texts. In 1973 Saudi King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz ordered the construction of shelters to the west of the mosque to house the growing number of worshippers. In 1981, the old mosque was surrounded by new prayer areas on these sides, enlarging five times its size. King Fahd greatly increased the size of the mosque, allowing it to hold a large number of worshippers and pilgrims and adding modern comforts like air-conditioning.
Without any exaggeration, the Islamic architecture is truly one of the world's best examples of architectural science! It shows how an architectural design can be brought to the level of perfection and unforgettable beauty.
I don't like to say that any culture is better than another, but the Taj Mahal is surely the most beautiful building in the world, by a long way.

Beautiful pictures indeed. Islamic architecture at its best. I think that it is Selimiye Mosque that had the biggest dome at that time, it was feet and a half bigger than the St Sofia's dome, for neiman Sinan it was the accomplishment that showed how Muslims are able to build things on the large scale just like the Greeks and Romans. Do you have any pictures of that Mosque in Abu Dhabi, it's suppose to be the largest Mosque in the world, and it has biggest carpet in world, it was made in Iran and transported to the Emirates.

TIMURID ART & ARCHITECTURE I know that It may not be the fanciest & coolest islamic art, but It's quite original & a milestone in the History of Arts, because the Mosques of Timur Leng (AKA Tamerlan) & the Timurids are a mix of Asian (even Far Asian) Art & Middle-Eastern Art. Beautiful pictures of the Grand Mosque of Kuwait. Very nice. It's got structure with perfect lines and at the same time it stands out as something much more that just a big building. And yes, Poet if you can please add some photos of Abu Dhabi Mosque, apparently it's the biggest Mosque in the world! It also has biggest carpet in the world.
